Despite facing extraordinary challenges, the Los Angeles Lakers emerged as the 2019–20 NBA champions, with LeBron James claiming his fourth title. After a season disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the team adapted to the unique conditions of the Orlando bubble and triumphed to secure the championship.

Critics and cynics claim it cannot be considered a true championship because there were no supporters and no travel. Most recently, James hopped in on this matter, clearing the misconception created by the critics. In a recent episode of his “Mind the Game” podcast, James explained the kind of concentration that was necessary during that period.

I agree with what a lot of people say that it’s the purest form of hoops. It was strictly basketball. We all have the ability to do whatever we want in life. We’ve made a bunch of money, we have all the access. That’s gone in the bubble… But when the basketball portion was the focus, that’s all it was.

When the epidemic began to reach critical mass in March, the 2019–20 season was first halted. Many people had doubts about the bubble’s ability to stop the coronavirus from propagating inside of it when it was first unveiled. However, it was a great success because of those rigorous limitations, which included prohibitions on family members receiving it.

Each player in the bubble had to put aside outside distractions and concentrate only on basketball, demonstrating their dedication to the game. Similar to LeBron, several players have emphasized how fierce and tough the postseason was despite its unique atmosphere. Unfortunately, the Lakers were unable to defend their title since the team that accomplished this feat was disassembled the following offseason.

James is still pleased with the exceptional character of that championship run as he begins his ninth season with the Lakers. Another important player for the 2019–20 Lakers, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, also defended the team’s crown.

Stephen Curry had huge praise for LeBron James and Kyrie Irving’s 2016 Cavs duo

Even though Stephen Curry managed to win two of the three rings during this period, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ comeback from a 3-1 deficit to win the championship still makes the 2016 defeat a topic of conversation. LeBron James and Kyrie Irving were in the form of their lives during that series, and the Warriors’ star man, Stephen Curry, agreed with this.

What I say about that 3-1 situation is, I have never seen two guys play at that level for three straight games. Like it was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen. Bron and Kyrie were just on it. We played well, they just played better and it was hard to watch and being in that vibe where you couldn’t do anything about it.

Stephen Curry said on The Young Man and Three podcast

James faced a Golden State Warriors squad that had won 72 games that season. Although James and Irving were aware that defeating the Dubs would be difficult, they had faith in their skills and played excellent basketball to accomplish the unimaginable.

LeBron James’ dominance in the East comes to light by a viral social media post

James dominates the top half of a chart that compares current and former Eastern Conference winners, and the tweet from account name ‘NBA Memes’ went viral. Because it so vividly captures James’ impact throughout his run in the East, the image sparked comments right away.

During that time, James played for the East in each Finals. He accomplished this feat on four separate occasions, with Miami from 2011 to 2014 and four more times with Cleveland from 2015 to 2018. In NBA history, that run of playoff dominance by a single player is still among the most reliable.

There is more to the post than James’ supremacy. It demonstrates how transparent the conference has gotten after he left. No player or club has won the Eastern Conference twice since 2019.
