In the past week, LeBron James went from being celebrated for playing in his 23rd season to a time when fans and analysts were deeply concerned about his health and conditioning.
After playing exceptionally well in the opening few games, James was left struggling to get past the 10-point mark. When he managed to get to that number and then left the game, many felt he was intentionally stat-padding.
Then, a game later, his 1297 streak of consecutive games with at least 10 points broke, when he gave up his last attempt so that Rui Hachimura could score the game-winner.
After that, it came to light that the 40-year-old was not just dealing with sciatica, which has been a problem since the offseason, but he was also struggling with arthritis in his foot.
Fans hoped that he would sit out and rest, but that was not the 4-time champion’s MO. He returned after missing one game to play the Philadelphia 76ers on the road and was back to his best.
After stunning fans with a monster fast break dunk, James was going along with the game plan, as his teammates went toe to toe with the home team.
Then, with 4:39 left on the clock, the Akron native went off, first scoring a long two, and then a three-pointer to help extend their slim lead. After his teammates tried a few shots, the ball was back in his hands.

He scored his 2nd straight three-pointer and then a step-back two to score the Lakers’ 10 straight points, to help his team win their last game of this short road trip.
Fans react to LeBron James calling the game
Basketball fans have seen what LeBron James can do, especially when he is healthy. That is why they had doubts ahead of this game, as arthritis is not something that is easy to overcome.
Then, for them to see the 4-time league MVP score the Lakers’ 11 straight points and call the game was enough to send them into a frenzy. They do not believe the oldest player in the game could have a better comeback performance.
For all the criticism he has faced, sacrificing his streak for a win and then leading them to one has fans elated. Check out examples of those reactions below.

The Lakers now return home for possibly two home games before embarking on another Western Conference road trip. If anything, the team and its fans would be hyped for those games after seeing this from their veteran superstar.
LeBron James’ 1st quarter dunk also blew the internet to bits
If that 4th quarter barrage of points was not enough for his critics to admit that LeBron James has not slowed down significantly, his 1st quarter dunk should do so.

With less than a minute left, Luka Doncic saw an opening and immediately sent a bounce pass to his veteran teammate. James was unsurprisingly on the same page and had already started accelerating before the ball came to him.
Then he continued his stride, took one step from inside the restricted area, and exploded for a monster one-handed tomahawk dunk, which left the 76ers stranded.

Even though the game was in Philadelphia, the Lakers fans in attendance, as well as the internet, were blown to bits, as no one saw that coming from someone who has been termed as being ‘old and slow’ of late.
