In Short
  • LeBron James shares pride in daughter Zhuri's volleyball progress through social media.
  • The father-daughter duo appears in a cartoon segment, showcasing their playful challenge.
  • James emphasizes family over basketball as he navigates his final NBA seasons.

As LeBron James gets through his 23rd season in the NBA, he has reiterated that basketball takes a back seat in front of his family, friends, and the community.

This season has been tough for the 41-year-old, as he missed training camp and opening day for the first time since he came into the league. On top of that, he has constantly been blamed for the Lakers’ struggles, even though he might not be the only reason.

James and his fellow starters haven’t played enough games to truly understand the depth of their concerns. However, being healthy is not in his hands, and he knows nothing he does will change the opinions fans and the media hold.

In the midst of this, the four-time champion is trying to enjoy every second of his time as much as he can. The King knows the end of his career is near, and hence, is trying to find ways he can stay engaged as he gets ready to move to life after basketball.

Of course, there is golf, podcasting, and his other ventures, which can keep him engaged. But nothing beats family, which is why whenever something good comes about, LeBron James makes sure to celebrate it.

The latest post on his Instagram page involved two videos of his daughter Zhuri James. The first of which was a compilation of the 11-year-old’s volleyball development, which also ended up being featured on espnW.

LeBron and Zhuri James get ‘Cartoonified’

There was no doubt that the video proves how proud the Los Angeles Lakers superstar is of his daughter, who chose to do what she loves instead of following her father and brothers into basketball.

That is quite something, as her father, LeBron James, has been cited as the reason the purple and gold franchise drafted her older brother, Bronny James.

If the King continues to play a couple of more seasons, there is a chance he will be able to play with or against his younger son, Bryce James. However, with Zhuri James, all the NBA’s all-time leading scorer could do is watch from the sidelines.

But in a cartoon world, that can change. The father-daughter duo was featured in ‘Cartoonified! With Phineas and Ferb.’ In the video, the Jameses are both dressed in Lakers colors as Phineas and Ferb coax them to take on the challenge of making a “300-point shot.”

Of course, being in a cartoon world, they have to battle sharks. They also have to use trampolines to get to the top of the basket. After battling the odds, as LeBron James tries to score the 300-point basket, a ‘flying shark’ comes in to snatch the ball away.

But then, Zhuri James first uses a bump pass to dislodge the ball from the shark’s mouth, and then smashes it into the basket to help them win the challenge.

LeBron James hopes Lakers get healthy after All-Star break

As LeBron James comes back from the one-game hiatus that ended his 21-year streak of winning an end-of-season award or selection, the hope among his Los Angeles Lakers is that they can get healthy.

The team has featured more starting five variations than any other franchise, which has been touted as the primary reason for their inconsistent form.

They may be somehow holding on to a playoff position, but in reality, the team needs to first find what works best for them. That is only possible if head coach JJ Redick can field his preseason units.

With the All-Star weekend coming about, the Lakers will enjoy eight days of rest. Along with the fact that they are in the midst of a stretch of home games, this could be the best stretch they could ask for. The hope is that they can start to fulfil their potential after this weekend.
