With star player LeBron James and rookie Bronny James, the Los Angeles Lakers presently have the only father-son team in NBA history. Just a few days ago, LeBron James celebrated his 40th birthday, and Bronny is beginning his NBA career, primarily playing for the South Bay Lakers in the G-League. Now, it looks like James’ second son, Bryce James, has also entered the professional basketball frame.

On Wednesday, Bryce James shared on Instagram that he had committed to play basketball for Arizona in the 2025 class. His father’s reaction was prompt. “CONGRATULATIONS MAXIMUS!!,” SO PROUD OF YOU!! James Sr. wrote on his Instagram post. The second of LeBron’s sons to play Division I basketball will be Bryce James. Before becoming a pro, Bronny attended USC for one season.

According to the 247 Sports Composite, 6-foot-4 shooting guard Bryce James is a four-star prospect, who attends Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth, California. Over the summer, he received an invitation to the USA Basketball under-17 national team training camp. According to 247 Sports, he is the 30th-best prospect in California and the 46th-best shooting guard in the US.

Three offers were made to Bryce James throughout his recruitment process: Arizona, Ohio State, and Duquesne. In addition, James joins five-star prospect Dwayne Aristode as the second member in Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd’s 2025 recruiting class. All eyes will be on the younger James’ development going forward this year.

Bronny James had better numbers than Bryce James coming out of high school

Bryce James played high school basketball at Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles, just like his older brother Bronny James did. The 6’4″, 190-pound guard is a 3-star prospect and the 46th best shooting guard and 257th overall in the class of 2025, according to 247Sports.

Although Bryce has been in the news for a while, he is not as well-known as Bronny was when he graduated from high school. Bronny was projected by 247Sports to be a 4-star recruit and the 28th-best prospect in the country at the time, and it was anticipated that he would excel at USC in the collegiate ranks.

After missing the first eight games of his rookie season due to a heart ailment, Bronny struggled to make an impact after returning to action. He averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game in 25 games. Bronny joined the 2024 NBA draft despite his difficulties, and the Los Angeles Lakers selected him with the 55th overall pick. It remains to be seen if Bryce enters the NBA one day.
