LeBron James is widely regarded as one of the greatest ever players in basketball. Many fans believe his unprecedented longevity and strong dominance over 21 years deserve him recognition. This is a sentiment that is echoed by coaches, former basketball stars, and analysts alike.

However, it’s not only fans of the sport who have taken notice of the 39-year-old’s prowess and incredible achievements throughout his career. Brands have as well, and this was the case lately when premium liquor brand Lobos Tequila 1707 used James in their commercial.

Suffice to say that the NBA superstar is an investor in the Mexican company, well known for its fine tequila. The Los Angeles Lakers player initially made an investment in the product when it first launched back in 2020.

Nonetheless, when a brand decides to partner with one of its investors on a marketing campaign, it says a whole lot about the vast appeal and influence of that person. In this instance, LeBron James, who shared a video of him playing poker while being served the tequila drink on the table. As James received the drink, he then exchanged knowing handshakes with the cocktail server.

Nevertheless, the dealer, who was already looking displeased with the handshake pattern by both men, cleared her throat and inquired: “Who do we have the pleasure of meeting here? Mr…,” and to which the NBA player looked up and responded: “James, LeBron James.”

In the video, LeBron played the role of James Bond, a famed British secret agent character associated with the codename “007”. The scene in the clip was also set to portray an all-exclusive casino. This is in many ways, similar to the same scene in the 2006 action-thriller movie “Casino Royale” acted by Daniel Craig as Bond, where he played poker, too.

The Lobos 1707 tequila brand is owned by actor Diego Osorio and has seen massive interest in the product since its founding. Fellow NBA stars such as Anthony Davis and Draymond Green have also invested in the company since its launch in 2020.

Fans react to LeBron James perfectly playing James Bond role in advert video

The ingenious acting and role play in that commercial by the Lakers star has got basketball fans hyped up. Some fans instantly pledged their support, saying they will patronize the brand. While others commented that James will do very well if he decides to join Hollywood in the future.
