LeBron James compared to Mr Miyagi as ex-Celtics rival confesses admiration
NBA superstar LeBron James has garnered a lot of praise from former Celtics star player, Paul Pierce for his longevity.
LeBron James and Mr.Miyagi
Ever since the 2024-25 NBA season began, LeBron James has performed at his best for his side, the Los Angeles Lakers. Even at the age of 39, he has shown no signs of stopping, instead he has set new records. In just 11 games during the regular season, James earned his 116th triple-double, his third consecutive and fourth of the year.
In the team’s recent 128-123 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies, the future Hall of Famer scored 35 points on 13-for-22 shooting (4-of-7 from three). He also had 14 assists, and 12 rebounds as well. James has also filled the void of the injured Anthony Davis for his side. After witnessing his greatness this season, Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce made a bold declaration regarding James.
On the other hand, James may possibly retire at the end of the 2025–2026 season. This was according to a prediction made earlier this week by ESPN source Shams Charania. The ESPN reporter also stated that this could ‘potentially’ be his last year in the NBA. Also, James had stated in the past that, he would not play till ‘the wheels fall off.’
"This is ridiculous watching this grown, old man still dominate these young boys… He's the Mr. Miyagi of the NBA… It's just a testament of his dedication to his body."

However, his second son, Bryce James could change his stance on retirement if he continues to develop quickly. Aside from this, James’ outstanding effort has helped the Lakers sit at 7-4 on the season after a 3-0 home stand. Up next: the Lakers face the San Antonio Spurs in an NBA Cup match-up on the road.
LeBron James recently opened up on his retirement plans
The biggest topic among NBA fans in today’s timeline remains the retirement of one of the greatest basketball players, LeBron James. In response to this, James himself provided the fans with an intriguing take on his retirement plans after his recent match-up vs the Memphis Grizzlies. James stated that he has only ‘one or two’ years to play.

As the first father-son team to play together in the NBA, James has already played long enough to hit the court alongside his son and Los Angeles Lakers teammate, Bronny James. He is shooting 52.4 percent from the field and 45.9 percent from three-point range. As such, the four-time champion will not wait to fall off his prime to retire. It will happen sooner than that.
