LeBron James doesn’t seem likely to be ready to retire just yet, and it seems like his kids agree. A few days ago, the Los Angeles Lakers player, who just finished his 22nd NBA season, teased fans about his impending retirement with a post on his X account. The post left the whole NBA community wondering whether or not James will retire ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season.

However, with James’ most recent assessment regarding his retirement, that does not seem to be the case. After sustaining a sprained ligament during the NBA playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers player recently stated that his knee felt excellent. James wants to be fully recovered by the start of training camp. Even if there are rumors about his retirement, his kids don’t want him to retire.

They’re like, ‘Dad, continue on your dream. This is your dream. Continue on your focus. You’ve been here for us this whole time,’ When you have that type of support … it makes it a lot easier.

LeBron James revealed

The 40-year-old was selected to the All-NBA team after a season in which he averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists, and 7.8 rebounds. In addition, the four-time winner was able to play with his son, Bronny James, and realize a long-standing dream.

Although LeBron James is aware that his playing days are few, he stated that it would be “insane” to continue playing until 2026 to play alongside his youngest son, Bryce, who will soon become eligible for the draft.

From a basketball perspective alone, there is cause to think James might remain for a longer period than expected. With his new pairing alongside superstar Luka Doncic at the Lakers, James has a reason to give it a year or 2 if he is as eager as ever to claim his 5th NBA title before calling it quits on the sport.

LeBron James opened up on his future career move once he decides to retire from the NBA

For now, the King chooses to stay yet another season in the NBA, making it his 23rd season in a few months. Given that, James made an interesting case regarding his future/potential career endeavors after he retires from the sport. James said he might return to acting when he eventually retires.

I think that all will boil down to the creative writing and to the role, If the role is appropriate and I feel like I can nail it, then I wouldn’t mind doing that at all.

LeBron James told The Hollywood Reporter

LeBron, who starred as himself in 2015’s Trainwreck and 2021’s Space Jam: A New Legacy, is familiar with cameras, but he hasn’t necessarily portrayed a role previously. Nonetheless, he has faith in his skills.

In the end, the 40-year-old revealed that he is keeping his options open about his future after basketball. He can either choose a similar path like former NBA players Michael Jordan and Shaquille O’Neal, or choose to do something that none of them have ever done.

LeBron James gave a positive update on his knee injury

After suffering an MCL injury in the team’s elimination game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, James, 40, is currently recuperating. After colliding with Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo, he seemed to have injured his left knee. James was allowed to come back and play the remainder of the game after first leaving it.

This also led to many retirement rumors(mentioned above) as James is already 40 going into the new season. Notably, the King shared a positive update on his injury and also put bed to all the retirement rumors about him.

I have a lot of time to take care of my injury, my knee, the rest of my body and make sure I’m as close to 100 percent as possible when training camp begins in late September.

Lebron James said

James’s comeback for his 23rd NBA season appears to be confirmed by that. Most people assumed that was going to be the case, but James’ age and the injuries made things a little murky. It remains to be seen what happens next with his situation.
