Nyck Harbor is among the standout players in Shane Beamer’s South Carolina roster. He made multiple plays during the Gamecocks’ must-win game against the undefeated Texas A&M Aggies at College Station.
However, he also found himself part of a controversial moment in the second quarter. A Texas State trooper did not look too happy when Harbor bumped into him in the mouth of the stadium’s tunnel.
The intense moment quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread backlash. Even NBA champion LeBron James wasn’t happy with how the trooper handled the situation.
That A&M cop needs to suspended! That was premeditated and corny AF!! 🤦🏾♂️. He went out his way to start some shit. Do better man

What happened between Nyck Harbor and the Texas State Trooper?
Harbor’s best moment came a minute before halftime. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers hit Harbor with an accurate pass, and the former track star turned wideout ran 80 yards to score a touchdown.

The momentum dragged Harbor inside the stadium’s tunnel, where he celebrated with his teammates. While heading his way back into the field, the Texas State trooper and Harbor bumped into one another.
Replays showed the trooper yelling and pointing fingers at Harbor. The Texas Department of Public Safety took swift action against the trooper by relieving him of his assignment.

Head coach Shane Beamer thanked the authorities for proactively taking care of the situation.
Got a ton of respect for the people here in College Station. It’s a first-class operation, everybody, from a game operation standpoint… They do a great job and are first-class people, so I appreciate them handling that the right way and sending him home.
Beamer said (H/T: 247 Sports)
The Gamecocks lost the game after the Aggies racked up 28 straight points in the second half. Harbor caught 3 passes for 100+ yards and scored one touchdown. The loss left South Carolina with the SEC’s second-worst record (3-7).
Stephen A. Smith demanded action against the Texas State Trooper
It was given that Stephen A. Smith would chime in on the incident. The longtime ESPN contributor demanded that the state trooper be suspended right away as punishment.
We saw [what happened between Nyck Harbor and the State Trooper]. It’s clear as day. It’s an automatic suspension. The man shouldn’t be allowed to work the game again. What are you doing messing with a player like that for? Wasn’t somebody in street clothes that you didn’t know was a player? You knew exactly who it was. You knew it was a player for South Carolina. You knew that and you did it anyway.

South Carolina has two games remaining on its schedule, both at home. The first is a local derby against Coastal Carolina, followed by a matchup with the Clemson Tigers.
