LeBron James has always been a doting father to his 3 kids, Bronny, Bryce, and Zhuri. His daughter Zhuri James, who is already 10 years old and growing fast, is inseparable from her parents. Zhuri has her own following on YouTube, with over 200,000 subscribers on the platform. She also has a large fan following on her Instagram handle, where she posts content supervised by her mother Savannah James.

Overtime was able to obtain footage of King James having a casual workout with his daughter recently. The 40-year-old missed the All-Star game with ankle issues, but that hasn’t prevented him from putting in recovery work to stay game-fit. He seems to be taking the leisurely route to getting back on track for their playoff push. LeBron James has previously released footage of light workouts with his daughter at their home gym.

Their recent video is yet another encapsulation of how easygoing, yet attached to his family LeBron is. The Lakers superstar can be seen even training his daughter to use weights to her advantage.

The audio choice for the gym music playing in the background offers a window into LeBron’s current frame of mind. James has recently fielded a few potshots from Drake after the LA sports icon seems to have ‘switched loyalties’ from the Canadian rapper while bigging up local favorite Kendrick Lamar. James played the explicit version of good kid, m.A.Ad city, with the songs “Compton” and “m.A.A.d city” coming on camera here. The Drake and LeBron friendship seems to have ended for good.

There isn’t a lot you can critique James for – except for splitting hairs about in place in the pantheon of basketball legends. And it seems that he’s making yet another statement in favor of Kendrick, only a few days after Drake released a collaboration album with OVO label signee Partynxtdoor.

Basketball fans react to the video of LeBron James working out with his daughter Zhuri

James has faced some critique for his choice to decline playing at the All-Star Game this year after his initial commitment. The release of this footage only a day after he was roundly panned by the media seems to have left some basketball fans torn.

A fan tweeted, “Damn I’m trying to hate on you in peace stop being a good dad. We mad at you.” Another fan said this could be an attempt to turn the conversation in media away from his All-Star game gimmick, “PR Team working hard I see.” He also pointed out that his team had this video ‘ready to go’. Yet another fan spoke glowingly about Zhuri’s commitment to lifting weights, light-heartedly noting that she could outdo ‘90% of NBA Twitter’ at it.

No matter how we view James – one of the most polarizing sports personalities of all time – we know that the hate and the critique will always be there. At the same time, James’ commitment to giving his kids the best possible future they envision for themselves will never not be admirable.
