Over his 22 seasons in the NBA, LeBron James has witnessed the league undergo a technological revolution. From refining how games are officiated to transforming fan engagement, technology has become deeply woven into every aspect of the sport—something the Lakers superstar has observed firsthand.
During the first few years of his career, video replays existed. But the decisions were still in the hands of officials, which meant players and fans could only go by what they decided on. Now, the use of video in game reviews has elevated to a level where everyone gets to see how a situation unfolded.
However, there are still some glaring errors made, one of which led James to crash out on the court. He could not believe how the officials ruled his three out, even though video monitors revealed his foot did not touch the line.
The most recent scenario of the advanced use of technology was during James’ 1st round playoff exit. He had forced the ball off Anthony Edwards, but replay reviews revealed the 40-year-old had smacked the Timberwolves’ star’s wrist, leading to a foul. Now, James explains how he was left dumbfounded by that call.

There was a piece of camera work in the postseason of our game in Minnesota that I have never seen in my f**king life. The strip on Ant, I’ve never seen that computer work in my life. Where the f**k did that camera come from.
LeBron James said to Steven Nash
His Mind the Game podcast host Steve Nash agreed that the league could have used multiple camera angles to review that play. But using the sky camera was groundbreaking, and surprising at the same time, as it had not been used before.
LeBron James shows no signs of knee injury after latest dance moves surface
Once their first round series was over, several names from the Los Angeles Lakers camp revealed that LeBron James had suffered a knee injury in Game 5. Fans, though, were not convinced and believed he was again making excuses.
Later on, he missed the Met Gala even though he was a co-chair. Instead, he reiterated that his knee injury forced him to miss the event, and he had to send his wife, Savannah James, to represent his place on the committee.
A new video surfaced on TikTok, which went viral on X, that shows the four-time champion dancing. Someone with a knee injury would not move their knees the way James was doing in this video. Or it could be that he has recovered enough to be able to break out those moves.

Either way, such videos will only go on to add to the criticism many have against the Lakers’ superstar. They believe he has always resorted to either excuses or pinning the blame on others when it comes to losses.
LeBron James might wait to watch Lakers’ roster moves before deciding on his career
After his 22nd season ended in the 1st round, LeBron James clarified that he was going to take time to decide on his future in the NBA. He made it clear that he would discuss it with his family and friends before taking a call.

Considering how he has been doing so for the past few years, many believe this time he might decide based on how the Los Angeles Lakers’ front office performs in the offseason. The team finished third in the West, which means they have pieces to build on.
But the playoffs proved that they lacked bench strength. Along with the need for a physical and athletic big man, the front office has a task on their hands trying to build a team that will perform in the postseason.
If James understands that the top brass have done enough to make the team championship ready, then he might agree to a pay cut. He might want to play a season more before retiring, but if it happens to bring him a fifth title, he would gladly accept it with both hands.
