It is no secret that LeBron James is a special player. Arguably the greatest player of all time, the ‘King’ has been the face of the league for two decades now. There was a lot of hype surrounding James before he made it into the NBA and since his debut at 18-years-old, he has managed to exceed expectations by a mile. There may never be a student of the game like James again.
Since being drafted as the number one pick in the 2003 NBA draft, LeBron James has gone on to achieve numerous accolades, in terms of individual records and team success. He has gone on to play for three different franchises and delivered a championship in all three of them. One of the biggest achievements of his career is breaking the NBA all-time scoring record which was held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for nearly 39 years.
James has finally begun to show some signs of decline this season as he currently averages 14 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists after missing the first 14 games due to sciatica nerve issues. The 2025-26 campaign is a historic one for James as he becomes the first player in league history to play 23 seasons at the highest level.
While James has broken several records on the court, he, recently, found out the price his most valuable card was sold for in an interview with trading cards company, Topps.
I think my rookie card has sold for like the most. I don’t know the number but I heard it’s like…crazy and I happen to have, like, maybe one or two of those things, locked in a vault somewhere. So, just in case if I ever fall on hard times then I’m good there. Hey, might need to get into that vault (after finding out that it’s value is $5.2 million).

The card is actually the 2003/04 Upper Deck Exquisite Rookie Patch Autograph card whose value was $5.2 million in 2021.
LeBron James fitting with Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves
After the Los Angeles Lakers made a strong start to the season where they were 10-4 in the absence of James, questions were asked if James would be able to integrate himself and not affect the team’s chemistry. During his time away, the Lakers were carried by league MVP contender, Luka Doncic, and Austin Reaves, who has been a revelation for the Lakers this season.
But things have gone well since his return as they have won six of their seven games with James in the lineup. Former NBA player, Brendan Haywood, feels that James does not fit with Doncic and Reaves.
LeBron is a big force. He is a big entity. Truthfully, if the Lakers could be honest, they would wish they could just have Reaves and Luka right now. But you can’t disrespect the legend. Because LeBron on this Lakers team does not fit. He’s not a good enough shooter on his weak side and not a good enough individual defender to support the fact that Reaves is averaging 28.

It is a new role for the four-time champion as this is the first time a roster is not built around him. But with Doncic and Reaves leading the way in offense, James has taken up the role of a playmaker and will be expected to put in the work defensively in the playoffs.
LeBron James believes in making the right play
It is not often that a player who is the all-time leader in points in the NBA is criticized for not being a “shoot-first” player. It is something that the critics have always used against James and preferred Michael Jordan for his scoring mentality.

On Thursday night, the Lakers beat the Toronto Raptors, 123-120, thanks to a Rui Hachimura three-pointer at the buzzer. It was James who made the assist to the Japanese international. After the game, James spoke about being a player who prefers to make the right play.
I remember everything has been negatively said about me and my game throughout my career. That aspect was always one of the most foolish things I’ve ever heard as far as making the right pass, making the right play. I’ve won at every single level playing in that way.

The closely-fought win in Toronto was the Lakers fifth win of the campaign since the return of James.
