His doubts came in response to a social media post, where he suggested that the four-time NBA champion isn’t on the same level as other Lakers icons like the late Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, or Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

This argument has been backed by the fact that despite King James racking up individual accolades, the holy grail of an NBA title has eluded the team. It became more painful last season when the Boston Celtics won the title and leapfrogged them into first place for most titles won.

However, despite Jackson’s reservations, James’ impressive statistics with the Lakers of 26.9 points, 8.1 assists, and 7.9 rebounds per game over seven seasons have solidified his place in the franchise’s history. This season may be the season that fans of the purple and gold may demand one more major shot at another title.
