Tristian Thompson is one of those names that the Cleveland Cavaliers fanbase will always remember. He was a member of the 2016 NBA title-winning side alongside LeBron James. Not only that, Thompson and James also played together for the Lakers in 2023. Nevertheless, he is now extending his stay with the Cavs as per an ESPN reporter, Adrian Wojnarowski.

Before playing for the Indiana Pacers, Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Sacramento Kings, and Lakers as a journeyman, Thompson played for the Cavs for his first nine professional seasons. He was signed by the Cavs before the 2023–24 campaign as a free agent. The Cavs needed a veteran presence on their roster. Hence, this move worked out well for both parties involved.

It is worth noting that Thompson had violated the league’s anti-drug policy and the NBA penalized Thompson for 25 games without pay in January. The penalty came after testing positive for the growth hormone ibutamoren and the SARM LGD-4033. This is frequently used by weightlifters and bodybuilders to boost their muscular mass.

In 49 games with the Cavaliers before his suspension, Thompson averaged 11.2 minutes while scoring 3.3 points, grabbing 3.6 rebounds, and dishing out one assist. That said, Thompson will essentially be a role-player and help leading the youngsters and guiding them through difficult moments.

The Cleveland Cavaliers caught the NBA community’s attention with the news, especially their own fanbase. As per reports, the Cavs have re-signed veteran Tristian Thompson on a 1-year deal. Thompson played alongside LeBron James for the Cavs as well as the Lakers. Now, fans are trolling Thompson for signing another deal with the Cavs instead of retiring.
