LeBron James gushes over Luka Doncic’s ‘tricks of the trade’ from Madrid and Slovenia
Lakers star LeBron James heaped huge praise on his new teammate Luka Doncic on the recent segment of the Mind The Games podcast show.

LeBron James and Luka Doncic
The Los Angeles Lakers are on fire this 2024-25 NBA season thanks to their superstars LeBron James and Luka Doncic. James recently sat down on his ‘Mind the Games’ podcast alongside newly appointed co-host Steve Nash, a former NBA player. On the podcast, James spoke about the importance of his teammate, Doncic, and how much he admires his playing style.
LeBron emphasized Doncic’s capacity to uplift his teammates, which he finds very admirable. He likened Doncic’s management approach to some of the greatest NBA playmakers, such as Chris Paul and Steve Nash. James also praised Doncic’s path to the NBA, saying that his growth in Europe helped mold him into the player he is now.
I’ve always loved the players that breathe so much confidence into his teammates that make them believe that they’re actually better than what the f**k they really are. You [Steve Nash] did that, Luka has done it for seven years… Luka has that. And I mean, he learned that from growing up in Slovenia, to heading to Madrid and learning the game the right way, and playing at a professional level at 13, 14 years old. And he brought that same model, and that same game, to the NBA from day one.
LeBron James said
Some guys just breathe confidence. Luka has that.

The 26-year-old Slovenian star has averaged 27.5 points, 7.9 assists, and 8.6 rebounds per game for the Lakers this season. Alongside James, Doncic is causing havoc on the court for the opposition. The star duo is fresh off a win against the Memphis Grizzlies away from home, at the FedExForum. Their display was admirable, so much so that Lakers HC JJ Redick called it one of the ‘best offensive displays’ this season.
The Lakers presently trail the Denver Nuggets by two games and lead the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers by two games. Following their game versus the Rockets on Monday, the Lakers will take on the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday. They will then make the trip to Oklahoma City to play two consecutive games against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
LeBron James set another milestone mid-game against the Grizzlies
The Lakers made a historic statement about the four-time champion during the Los Angeles Lakers vs. Memphis Grizzles game. In his 22nd NBA season, LeBron James is consistently setting new marks and accomplishing previously unheard-of feats. James recorded his 42,000th point while playing vs the Grizzlies on Saturday as the Lakers posted on their official X handle.

The Lakers star is still making history as the first player in league history to reach the 42,000-point mark, even though it has been just over two years since he overtook Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the NBA’s all-time scoring chart. It is reasonable to assume that James’s main objective is to win another NBA championship before ending his career, even though he is still setting records and creating league history.
LeBron James and Luka Doncic recreate iconic photo during Grizzlies matchup
Austin Reaves, Luka Doncic, and LeBron James all scored at least 25 points against the Grizzlies. James and Doncic also recreated what is arguably the most famous image of James’ career—his duo portrait with Dwyane Wade from his time with the Miami Heat which has been making waves in the NBA community.

Doncic and James have settled in well on the court. Their chemistry also seems to be improving, as revealed by Lakers HC JJ Redick in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.
As of Saturday, the Lakers had dropped eight of their last 12 games and four of their last five. Although injuries were the cause of many of those losses. James missed two weeks due to a groin injury. Notably, the Lakers were just 1-3 after James returned. However, they have bounced back admirably against the Grizzlies.
