Anthony Davis has been LeBron James‘ longtime teammate and good friend over the years in the NBA. Notably, Davis opened up on a hilarious phone call with James regarding the NBA legend’s son Bronny James being drafted by the Lakers during the 2024 NBA Draft as the 55th overall pick.

Davis and James have played together for the Lakers for a few seasons. As Davis welcomes James’ son, Bronny, to the Lakers, his attention has moved amusingly onto the younger James. AD recently posted a humorous phone call highlighting his new purpose. He claimed on the call that it was the younger James who he wanted to talk to instead of LeBron James.

I actually called him [Bronny] when he got drafted. I called Bron [because] I don’t have Bronny’s number yet. I called Bron, ‘What’s up man?’ ‘I don’t want to talk to you, I want to talk to my new teammate!’ you know so it's going to be fun man.

Both veterans will be hoping to achieve the glorified gold medal in the upcoming tournament for their nation. The Los Angeles Lakers drafted Bronny James as their 55th overall pick during the 2024 NBA Draft, also creating history by having the first-ever father-son duo in the NBA. Notably, LeBron James could not be more happier after the Lakers drafted James Jr. claiming “it was a dream come true” moment for him and how proud the whole family was.

With my son, it’s a dream come true for me, When they announced his name, it was something that was super surreal, Our family still (doesn’t) have enough words to explain the feeling.

This draft also caused a lot of stir around the NBA community, with many fans, experts, and ex-players congratulating the James family.

Interestingly, James Jr made his Summer League debut while playing for the Lakers in San Francisco, while his father was on the court getting ready for the Olympics. Bronny scored four points, two assists, two rebounds, and a steal while shooting 2-of-9 in 22 minutes. It will be intriguing to see how Bronny James performs in the NBA in the 2024-25 season.
