Every NFL season, fans wait to see if someone can come close to or break a record. The pursuit of such records excites everyone and ends up helping to make the sport a spectacle. One massive fan happens to be NBA superstar LeBron James who watched a certain Mike Evans script history.

Since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver has come into the league, he has been posting 1000 yards season. Entered the final game of the 2024-25 regular season, he was 85 yards short of posting another consecutive one.

As the game passes, Evans kept on racking up the numbers as the Buccaneers battled the New Orleans Saints. However, with less than two minutes left, Mike Evans was still five few yards shy of finishing another season with 1000 receiving yards.

Thankfully, the Buccaneers defense helped the offense get the ball back. On their first snap, QB Baker Mayfield took two steps back and threw the ball to Mike Evans breaking out of a slant. He managed to gain nine and from his reaction it was evident that he knew what he had done.

He joined the great Jerry Rice in notching 11 consecutive 1000-yard receiving seasons. As he entered an exclusive club, a member of another exclusive club, LeBron James, took to his X to write this for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wideout.

So damn (fire emoticons). Super congrats my brother! Too TOUGH!!

The NBA’s all-time leading scorer knows what it is to reach such a milestone. He tipped his hat with emoticons on that X post, suggesting what Mike Evans has done deserves the highest praise and admiration.

Mike Evans helped last game winning drive

Early in the game, his Tampa Bay Buccaneers lagged behind as the New Orleans Saints were in the lead. Then in the third quarter, quarterback Baker Mayfield scored a touchdown to take over the lead of the game.

After their defense stopped the New Orleans Saints on the next drive, the onus was on the home team to put the game away. During that drive, Mayfield resorted to an array of short and medium passes along with the run game to drive their team down the field.

In that drive, Mike Evans was targeted quite a few times, which helped him get closer to the 1000-yard milestone. At the end, he received the game ball for his efforts from head coach Todd Bowles. Ironic when considering that the wideout almost joined another franchise in the offseason.

Now their focus will shift to the wild card round where they will face the Washington Commanders. The game will be at home, and they know it will be difficult against a strong team. The Buccaneers know they have a chance to avenge last season’s disappointment and need to win against the Commanders.
