“And y’all still wanna know…” LeBron James indirectly asserts he’d have fouled Jaylen Brown’s OT forcing 3-point shot
Jaylen Brown's 3-point shot forced overtime and eventually cost the Indiana Pacers a win.
LeBron James indirectly asserts that he would have fouled Jaylen Brown's 3-point shot before it forced OT in the Eastern Conference Finals
LeBron James has a basketball IQ that is second to none. But when he talked about fouling game-closing 3-point attempts, he drew a lot of flak from fans of the game.
Many questioned the logic behind that thought. Today he got the perfect opportunity to assert that he would have fouled Boston Celtics superstar Jaylen Brown on the Eastern Conference Finals overtime forcing 3-point shot.
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar based his knowledge on the fact that in today’s game, more and more players are getting better at shooting 3’s. Therefore, if the game is in the closing seconds and the defending team are up by a 3, James would always foul. In today’s game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, a similar situation cropped up.
And yall still wanna know why I would foul up 3 EVERY SINGLE TIME??LeBron James sent out a tweet referencing to that play
With 8.5 seconds to go, the Indiana Pacers allowed Jaylen Brown to pull up for a 3-pointer. That is despite Pascal Siakam was in front of him.
According to LeBron James’ logic, if the Indiana Pacers would have fouled Brown, he would have to make all 3 free throws to tie the game. Something that is not easy in pressure situations. Therefore, game management wise, it made more sense.
The Pacers banked on the chance that the Boston Celtics would miss. Or even had he made, they would have tried to convert one on the other end. But for a player like LeBron James, who has seen everything possible in his 21 years in the league, knows that may not be the case.
