The wait is finally over, as LeBron James announced that he is going to take his talents to Philadelphia. This news dropped like a bombshell out of nowhere, considering that the 76ers were not considered to be a favorite to sign him.
Over the last several days, it was the Miami Heat who were widely considered to be his next team. From Pat Riley‘s ‘land another plane’ comment to their media team posting a possible press conference on July 27th, all signs were screaming a return to South Beach.
Even if they weren’t in the race, many felt that the King could be returning home. In fact, there was news that he was probably hoping the Cavaliers would trade for Kyrie Irving. But now that it did not happen, Philadelphia fans and celebs are on cloud nine.
I LOVE LIFE!! GOD don’t play about me and mine.

This is the city’s greatest-ever professional athlete, openly revealing what it means for the league’s all-time leading scorer to join his team. Many might argue that Iverson not winning a title may not make him the greatest, but as a culture changer, every Philly fan points towards him as the One.
What is ironic about this post is that LeBron James has in the past revealed how Allen Iverson was one of his idols growing up. Now, to play for his team and create the possibility of winning championships, it could be a full-circle moment for the 41-year-old.

Allen Iverson was probably the first to react to this news. It means he was probably aware of LeBron James’ intentions before ESPN’s Shams Charania broke the news. However, it seems someone else also might have been aware all this time.
Oh my god. It is a double-edged moment right now. First and foremost, Philadelphia, stand up… Bron to the Sixers… Shout out to my brother for making the right choice, for making the best choice. The city of brotherly love, it’s up… Basketball’s about to be big.

The Philadelphia native was hyped after the news, enacting the four-time champion’s iconic ‘Silencer’ celebration quite a few times during this video. But he was not as hyped as one would expect him to be.

It is possible that he already knew about it, considering the comedian and actor spent quite a bit of time with James in the past few days. At the time, everyone felt that Draymond Green was using the time to lure the free agent to the Warriors. Or was it that Kevin Hart was doing the same for his city?
Rapper Meek Mill shouts out his city after LeBron James joins the 76ers
Philadelphia sports fans are probably going nuts right now thinking about what their city is going to look like in the coming months. On one hand are the Philadelphia Eagles, who are preparing for a new era where they might be considered Super Bowl contenders.
On the other hand, with LeBron James joining the 76ers, their championship odds skyrocketed. Knowing what this is going to do to the fanbase and the people of the city in general if it happens, rapper Meek Mill wrote this on X.

The Philadelphia native’s reaction proves how he feels about it. It was also fitting, considering the four-time league MVP used the rapper’s iconic track, Dreams and Nightmares, to put together a clip of his career highlights to announce joining the 76ers.
