When Coco Gauff won Roland Garros for the first time at 21, she created history and a precedent. She touched the heavens with her hands after defeating Aryna Sabalenka, the top-ranked player, 6-7 (5), 6-2, and 6-4 in Saturday’s final, but what followed only highlighted her triumph. She got all the biggest personalities from the US to congratulate her on her achievement.

Former US President Barack Obama was quick to congratulate her on her accomplishment. Michelle Obama, his wife, also added some sincere remarks that convey the love of a proud mother. Both took to their social media to share kind words for her. Notably, basketball phenom LeBron James also hopped on the Gauff praise bandwagon. He quoted Obama’s X post and offered his take.

LeBron James wrote on X, I SECOND THAT!!! Congratulations my fellow flag bearer

For context, LeBron James was appointed captain by the USA basketball team during the 2025 Paris Olympics, where James was also the flag bearer for his nation alongside tennis star Coco Gauff. Hence, James’ words come about that for Gauff after her epic French Open win.

James was not the only NBA star to praise the tennis player. Jimmy Butler also expressed his admiration and support for the young lady because he did not wish to be left behind. Jimmy posted a picture of her being proclaimed champion from the Tennis Channel on his Instagram stories, along with emojis to greet her.

In addition, the teenage tennis player is the first American to win the French Open singles championship in ten years. She won the US Open in 2023 and now has two Grand Slam victories. Gauff will receive $2.9 million in prize money, as if that weren’t enough. And sure, Coco deserves it all after reliving a sporting milestone that had previously only been attained by two greats, Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova.

Tom Brady keeps LeBron James out of his favorite all-time athletes list

NFL legend Tom Brady was challenged to choose the sportsmen he believes are the best of all time in a recent Bleacher Report interview. Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Shohei Ohtani, and Barry Bonds were among the sports icons he chose. One clear name that was missing from this varied list was the Lakers star, LeBron James.

Michael Jordan. He was my childhood idol. He was unbelievable. Obviously, I loved Kobe Bryant. I still love Kobe Bryant. Tiger, his competitiveness. What Rory McIlroy’s done, I love that. Shohei Ohtani, what he’s done has been unbelievable. Barry Bonds — he went to my high school. I was the biggest fan of him growing up.

Tom Brady told Bleacher Report

Many people consider NFL legend Tom Brady to be among the best athletes of all time. His views are respected not only in football circles but also in the sports world at large, as seen by his seven Super Bowl victories, five Super Bowl MVP awards, and two decades of domination.

People pay attention when Brady names his personal Mount Rushmore of athletic brilliance, which excludes LeBron James but includes icons like NBA great Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods.

Former NBA player did not hold back his thoughts regarding LeBron James

LeBron James, who is already 40 years old, is regarded as one of the best basketball players in history. James has possibly won all the accolades there are to win in the sport. However, his mentality and willpower still keep him going even at this age. However, Olden Polynice, a former NBA player, recently gave LeBron some advice and encouraged him to consider retiring.

The longevity aspect, I think it’s getting a little bit too much now. Because I’m like, dude, what else you want to do? It’s time for you to start thinking about retiring. He ain’t getting no fifth ring unless he buys one. It ain’t happening.

Olden Polynice said

In addition to ranking fourth in all-time NBA career assists and sixth in steals, he is the league’s all-time top scorer. Also, he has earned three NBA All-Star Game MVP honors, four NBA MVP awards, four NBA Finals MVP honors, and the NBA Rookie of the Year award.

Not only that, he has received a record 21 NBA All-Star selections. So, there is nothing left in particular for the King to conquer, apart from adding a 5th NBA title to his name.
