LeBron James and Kevin Durant super team means Lakers star sacrificing $50 million
The Phoenix Suns are looking to snap up LeBron James from the Los Angeles Lakers for the next 2024-25 NBA season.
Kevin Durant and LeBron James
The NBA has seen many stars come and leave their stamp on the league over the years since its formation. However, one star that will be remembered and cherished for a long time will be the Los Angeles Lakers legend, LeBron James. James has created an undeniable impact at the Lakers, winning the 2020 NBA championship with them.
Interestingly, as per Insider Evan Sidery, the Phoenix Suns are plotting a sensational offer to try and get LeBron James on their roster. Not only that, in an attempt to entice James, the Suns are seriously considering selecting his son, Bronny James at No. 22 overall in the draft.
Also, it seems that the Suns think they can persuade James to form a historic superteam with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. However, this deal won’t be easy as James would have to sacrifice a whopping $50 million contract at the Lakers and sign a veteran’s minimum contract at the Suns.
On the sports side of things, both the Phoenix Suns and the Los Angeles Lakers have not performed as per the standards they would have hoped for. The Suns finished 6th in the West while the Lakers finished 7th in the West, with both teams getting knocked out early in the NBA playoffs at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets respectively.
Bronny James currently working out with Suns adds more speculation to LeBron James joining Phoneix team
The son of LeBron James, Bronny James, is being considered by the Phoenix Suns for their 22nd overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft. LeBron James’ oldest son accepted to a workout session with the Suns, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported. Furthermore, this news adds more fuel to the possibility of his dad joining the Suns next 2024-25 NBA season.
With an expensive roster and few opportunities to make adjustments, the Suns find themselves in a difficult situation this offseason. They have decided not to trade any of their key players and will try to get better through the draft and free agency, with NBA legend James their priority target.
Notably, earlier this season, James had admitted that he would like to play with his son on the same team before he retires from the sport. Hence, with the Suns deciding to draft Bronny James, James Sr. may be lured to join the Suns if he were to fulfill his dream of playing with his son.
