It has been a great start to the season for LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. The team in ‘purple and gold’ are currently placed at second in a highly competitive Western Conference with a 13-4 record, tied with the Denver Nuggets and behind the defending champions, Oklahoma City Thunder.
LeBron James, who missed the first 14 games of the season, has found himself in a new role for the first time in his 23-year long NBA career. The current squad is built around Luka Doncic. The guard has been nothing short of sensational so far as he is averaging 35.2 points (leading the league), 8.8 rebounds and 9.2 assists.

Heading into Thanksgiving, the Lakers are coming off an impressive win over cross-town rivals, the Los Angles Clippers. It is three out of three wins in the NBA Cup as the 2023 NBA Cup champions look to build on their 2025-26 campaign by claiming their second in-season tournament trophy.
The Lakers hosted 100 students from the After-School All-Stars program for a Thanksgiving feast that included James, Doncic, Austin Reaves and other Lakers stars. The players took photos and were engaged in some basketball games with the children.
Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves continue with their friendly banter
Lakers teammates have been engaged in some friendly banter over the last few weeks. The most recent one being after their win over the Utah Jazz on Tuesday where Doncic jokingly said he and Reaves are not friends. One of the main highlights of the Lakers’ season to this point has been the blossoming friendship between the two guards, not just on the court but off of it as well.
During their interaction with the kids, Reaves asked the kids, “Do y’all know who that is? He is my least favorite teammate.” While Doncic asked them, “Do you like him (Austin Reaves)?”

The two of them have formed a really strong offensive partnership and with the addition of James, things will only get better for the Lakers.
Caitlyn Clark shows respect for LeBron James
James has been a big admirer of WNBA star Caitlyn Clark for over a couple of years now. He relates to the Indiana Fever star as both of them were drafted as the number one pick and had to deal with a lot of pressure and scrutiny to be the face of their respective franchises.

James commemorated the start to his 23rd NBA season with an Instagram post showing several highlights. The post’s top comment is from Clark, who simply commented, “King”.
Caitlin Clark pulled up under Bron’s post and dropped one word:

The praise between the two icons hasn’t been one-sided. Clark has also shouted out James over social media and in interviews. She has even called him the GOAT and is a huge inspiration to her for the work he has put in.
