The Los Angeles Lakers have been making headlines lately, firstly after drafting Bronny James as their 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft. Secondly, after re-signing their star man LeBron James on a $104 million contract. Notably, former NBA legend Kendrick Perkins shared his views on the Lakers and their star LeBron James on the First Take Show.

Kendrick Perkins shared his views on LeBron James and Rob Pelinka‘s relationship and their views on the Lakers. He stated that James wishes to win titles with the Lakers, while Pelinka is more concerned with safeguarding the Lakers’ future. Perkins also claimed that Pelinka should surround James with skilled teammates if he wishes the Lakers to secure an NBA championship.

To me, it seems like they're on two different pages. When it comes down to LeBron, the reason he wanted to take a pay cut is for the simple fact that he wants to win now at a high level. Every single time he steps on the floor, LeBron James is thinking about championships. Rob Pelinka is thinking about the future.

Additionally, Perkins’ words make sense as the Lakers GM has previously stressed in the media that the decorated franchise is more inclined towards building the side’s future. It remains to be seen how James and Co perform in the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season with many expectations over their heads.

Kendrick Perkins slammed LeBron James during 2024 NBA Finals

The 2024 NBA Finals was nothing short of a thrilling 7-game series between the Dallas Mavericks and the Boston Celtics, with the Celtics clinching the NBA title. However, ahead of the NBA Finals, LeBron James‘ long-time friend and former teammate Kyrie Irving featured in the Finals, and James let out his feelings about his former Cavs teammate on the Mind the Game Podcast.

On the other hand, Kendrick Perkins was unimpressed with James’ theatrics, accusing him of taking a moment from Irving’s Finals run to re-center the story around himself.

Here we go again, Bron weaseling his way into somebody else’s moment, This is not about you! Your team is at home. This is about the Mavs and the Celtics, but yet you’re so mad and disappointed that you’re not Kyrie Irving’s running mate no more. Here we go again.

It’s interesting to note that Perkins and James do not get along that well in and around the NBA. In addition, James even unfollowed Perkins on social media after he slammed him regarding the NBA on the ESPN show. However, it remains to be seen if James responds to Perkins’ criticism against him or chooses to ignore the noise instead.
