LeBron James made history by becoming the first NBA player to lead the USA athletes out at the Paris Olympics in 2024. As the male flag bearer, the all-time leading scorer in league history donned a white jacket and held the flag at the tip of the boat with all Team USA athletes on it. On their way to the Opening Ceremony, pictures of this entire scenario left fans in splits.

Photos and videos showed the Los Angeles Lakers superstar at the head of the boat with the flag in his hands. Alongside tennis star Coco Gauff, James wore white jackets as flag bearers. That said, considering James’ height, Gauff almost was not visible in the crowd. It showed as if James was the sole flag bearer, leading the Team USA contingent into battle at the Olympics. On the other hand, the rain added to the entire visual effect.

It might be true to some extent as LeBron James is one of the most accomplished of all athletes on that boat. Add to that, he has been the face of US Sports, primarily basketball, for a long time. Fans across the globe recognize him as one of the greats.
