LeBron James is back with another episode of Mind the Game with Steve Nash. For the latest installment, the NBA star dived into his unheard-of plans for the future. While he wasn’t sure when retirement would knock at his door, he knew what would follow after with his family, especially his wife, Savannah James.
LeBron James made it clear to the listeners that the credit for his longevity in the game went to Savannah James and his help at home. It was they who allowed him to do his own thing when it was about his tedious practices and the matches that followed.
Furthermore, the legendary athlete went on to talk about how things would be when all was said and done. LeBron James made it crystal clear that his priority would be his wife, Savannah James, and his children. All his career, he quipped that his number one priority was himself and the game, and it sounded fair to him to give it back to his family.
When I’m done playing the game, that time will be priority number one will be my wife.
LeBron James stated
He also briefly talked about the work that his body required and the hours he put into it. Notably, LeBron James is renowned for taking extra care of his body, from rejuvenation sessions to his strict diet. Reportedly, he spent around $1.5 whopping million every year on his body. This included personal chefs, recovery chambers, biomechanical specialists, massage therapists, and cutting-edge equipment like cryotherapy and hyperbaric oxygen tanks.

Amid all that, he also shared an incident where his routines affected Savannah James to the point of annoyance. The NBA star recalled his early bedtime schedule that he loved, which made his wife mad. Despite her occasional frustration, it was she who pushed LeBron James to be the great athlete he is today. To add to that, it dated back to when they only started to grow their family.
LeBron James sheds light on retirement timeline
Besides being broadly recognized as one of the best players in the NBA, LeBron James has also entered the podcast scene. Amid his press tour to promote his podcast, he made a stop at The Pat McAfee Show. With each passing day, his fans remained anxious to know of the athlete’s final match of his career. In the lengthy one-on-one chat, he gave his fans little to no clarity on his retirement plans.
LeBron James shared that his approach to hanging the hat was more inclined towards the practicality of it. The NBA great knew of the ticking clock and how he hung on the latter side of it. However, it was about the process and his mind that would give him signals to step down. He further quipped that some of them were if he became unmotivated to train or visit the arena, way prior to the match, or study the scout sheet.
If it were to happen, LeBron James would know it was time for him to take his leave from the sport for good. Ultimately, he kept it ambiguous when exactly will the news would come; however, his uncertainty was a relief to the fans. He has previously expressed his wishes to play alongside one or both of his sons in the league. Bronny had already entered the league on LeBron James’ side with the Lakers, and Bryce was not far behind.
