LeBron James' no-look pass to Stephen Curry shows growing chemistry before Olympics, Team USA needs Kevin Durant back ASAP

Team USA basketball set out to banish the embarrassment of last year’s FIBA World Cup debacle by assembling the best team for the upcoming Paris Olympics. A team that comprises the best of the best American players from the NBA. With the likes of LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant on the squad, scoring and game management weren’t going to be an issue. But chemistry could be.

Knowing that the leading stars set out to work alongside the coaching staff. They took the onus upon themselves to break down the walls of NBA competition and focus on teamwork. During the first friendly, a glimpse of that budding chemistry was evident when LeBron James threw down a dunk off a lob from Stephen Curry. In today’s practice sessions, it seemed as if the chemistry and understanding were building when James directed Curry in a set and sent in a no-look pass for the Golden State Warriors superstar to score easily.

That understanding can only come from a desire to unite to win the gold. After all, those two have faced off against each other in more NBA finals than any other duo in the past 2 decades. So, to see those two find an understanding and get a couple of scores is a great sign.

Team USA will need them whenever Kevin Durant returns from injury to set the tone in the Olympics. Only then will the others follow suit and focus on the target. They were labelled as unofficial captains, and captains are supposed to lead the way.

LeBron James and Stephen Curry need Kevin Durant back soon

For all their hometown chemistry, LeBron James and Stephen Curry know they cannot do it all by themselves. Not only are they still battling fatigue after the NBA season, but also their age needs them to rest more than what others do. Therefore, they need superstar Kevin Durant back from injury.

The Phoenix Suns star is nursing a strained calf. But all signs indicate that he should be back in time to play the last friendly before leaving for Paris. Even though the time will be short, they will need to work with Durant to understand his nuances. Curry knows all about that from his playing days with Durant. James is too experienced to not know how it works.

But they will need time alongside the other players. It is possible that the 3 leaders will take turns running the floor with the younger players. That is probably the best way to keep the score going. Only then can they reach the Olympic gold medal game with their stamina intact.
