Any person having a faint idea about the NBA knows the name LeBron James, and that he is about to play in his 23rd season. What they also know is that the superstar might be on the verge of retiring anytime soon.
There has been only one other person to have played 22 seasons, and he, Vince Carter, was not anywhere close to the form the Los Angeles Lakers star was in last season.
James still averaged nearly 25 points per game along with 7.8 rebounds and 8.2 assists. All of that when he had two other playmakers for around half the season.
There were rumors of retirement after last season when the all-time leading scorer revealed in a private dinner that his wife wanted him to leave the game. However, his burning desire to play while still being in peak shape continues.
While some speculated that he might call it quits after this season, others believe the 40-year-old might be motivated to wait and see if his younger son Bryce James can enter the NBA next season.
If that were to happen, then he would not like to miss the opportunity. At the same time, any potential change in his physical conditioning could increase the possibility of King James leaving the sport.
Almost everyone having a little bit of interest in basketball keeps track of the four-time champion’s moves. The latest that he revealed on X sent the internet into a meltdown.

LeBron James’ teaser sends internet in flames
The problem with this teaser is that LeBron James labeled it as the ‘Second Decision’. The last time the words ‘The Decision’ were used, it was when he decided to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the Miami Heat.
The entire basketball world came crashing down upon his choice, with many painting him the NBA’s villain. This time, fans went into a frenzy, knowing it is highly unlikely that he is moving to another team.
Instead, they feel the four-time league MVP is most likely about to announce his farewell tour. Some, such as prominent YouTubers Mr. Beast and Marques Brownlee (MKBHD), believe this was James’ attempt at joining their industry.
Others felt it was a well-thought-out promotion for Amazon Prime Day, who James works with. Either way, conversations surrounding the rumors dominated social media, examples of which are listed below.

We all know it's a doritos commercial
LeBron James knows how to work the media. A prime example was when he sent Stephen A. Smith crashing after appearing on The Pat McAfee Show. Therefore, no one would have a clue as to what the Akron native is up to until 12pm Eastern Time on October 7th comes around.
LeBron James retirement rumors sends ticket prices soaring
As soon as LeBron James posted this on his X page, the NBA world went into a frenzy. Other than garnering millions of impressions on social media, this post has had an impact in another area.

The Los Angeles Lakers will play the Utah Jazz on April 12th, which will be the final regular season game of their 2025-26 campaign. As per TickPick, the cheapest ticket prices for that game are now hovering at the $445 mark.

Just hours ago, those same tickets were only $85… until LeBron’s tweet sent prices through the roof.

They also revealed that hours before James posted his ‘Second Decision’ video on X, the lowest ticket prices for the same game at Crypto.com Arena were going for just $85. If he indeed confirms his retirement, those prices could rise further.
