LeBron James Prioritizing Time with Wife Savannah as NBA’s 1st Couple Vacation in France

It has been quite a past year for LeBron James. After his wife, Savannah James, gave the go-ahead, he led Team USA to a gold medal in the Paris Olympics. Then he had a whirlwind season with the Los Angeles Lakers that did not end the way he had hoped.

The 40-year-old surprised everyone by relinquishing ball-handling duties to the incoming Luka Doncic and instead became a roaming free safety who would score off cuts and dips.

By leaving playmaking to his new teammate, James had the energy to contribute on defense, a tactic that helped them defeat Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets for the first time in almost 2 years.

However, in the playoffs, fatigue and injuries stopped the Lakers from dishing out any meaningful damage to their opponents. James was left with a knee injury and needed time to recover.

At the same time, he was also intent on competing for a title before he retired. Even though he picked up his $52 million player option, the superstar sent out messages of dissatisfaction with the Lakers’ front office.

Trade rumors swirled as the franchise signed a few players in free agency. Now, everyone is wondering if LeBron James is happy to continue with the team he has spent the most time in his career. But he is nowhere near the American media.

The superstar has been in a vacationing mood lately and was snapped with his wife, Savannah James, in France. Her husband has prioritized his time with her and is looking to make the most of it until he resumes workouts ahead of next season.

LeBron James and his high school sweetheart, Savannah, have been together for 23 years now. Three children and a mountain of memories later, they are the de facto 1st couple of the NBA.

As the Los Angeles Lakers superstar has become older, he has slowly revealed how his life revolves around his wife. Starting from how they bring up their children, how they manage their house, some business interests, etc., they talk about everything.

They also talk about how long he will continue to play basketball. At 40 years old, the 4-time champion is not getting younger. Therefore, Savannah James has a say in her husband’s health. She had to agree to him competing in Paris before the Lakers star started building the Avengers super team.

Then he revealed that she wants him to retire after next season. All of these point to an understanding where the mother of three gets a say in how her illustrious husband handles his life. No wonder he keeps calling her his queen.

Savannah James could get her wish next season

LeBron James still wants to compete at the level he has been for the past 22 seasons. However, he knows the time to hang up his sneakers is around the corner. Next season will be his 23rd campaign.

No player has done that before, and not while still playing at this level. James was just nominated to his 21st All-NBA team and, barring Jayson Tatum, outperformed every single one of his Paris Olympics teammates.

Despite all that, he knows the situation at the Los Angeles Lakers is changing. They are now building a team focused on maximizing Luka Doncic’s talents. He would not want to just stick around and be the 3rd wheel.

Therefore, it is highly likely that the Akron native calls it quits after this season. Considering the All-Star weekend will be held at the Crypto.com Arena, it will be the best way to sign off from the game.

If he and his teammates manage to put together a title run, all the better. But even if they do not, Savannah James will likely get her wish. Starting from July 2026, her husband should probably be spending every minute with her.
