LeBron James and Kevin Durant have been two of the greatest players in the NBA for nearly two decades. The two have clashed on numerous occasions throughout their careers and have competed against one another in multiple NBA Finals. They have gone head-to-head in three finals with James coming out on top in 2012 and Durant in 2017 and 2018.

The Los Angeles Lakers, led by LeBron James, registered an impressive 100-92 win over the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center on Monday night. After the game, James was asked which version of Durant was the hardest to guard in his post-match media scrum.

Every version. He’s gotten — he continues to get better and better. Obviously, him in Golden State was super dynamic because you just couldn’t put multiple bodies in front of him ‘cause of the threat of Klay [Thompson] and Steph [Curry] at all times. He’s never not been great at basketball. So, every version.

Drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the number one pick in the 2003 NBA draft, LeBron James moved to the Miami Heat in 2010. During his four-year spell in Miami, he made it to four consecutive NBA Finals, won two championships, two Finals MVPs, and two league MVPs.

At 41, James has shown no signs of slowing down. He may not have the same impact he once did on winning, but he is still averaging 21.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 6.7 assists this season.

Meanwhile, Kevin Durant has played for five franchises in his 18-year NBA career. His constant jumping of teams have been criticized by some.

He won two NBA championships during his time with the Golden State Warriors. His first NBA Final appearance came in 2012 when he was playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder, but they were beaten by James and the Miami Heat in five games. James was named the Finals MVP for his performance.

Before their clash on Monday, the NBA posted an interview with Durant on social media before the game. The Rockets forward was asked which player he’s faced in his career was the toughest to guard. Durant said:

Miami Heat Bron would probably be the toughest. His jumpshot was on point. Obviously, at his athletic peak. So. I’ll say him.
