“Nothing like 2 heavyweights” – After going viral for singing Kendrick Lamar’s verse, LeBron James reacts to Drake’s surprise diss
LeBron James is an avid fan of hip hop music and has been seen several times singing along.
LeBron James appreciates Drake and Kendrick Lamar's diss tracks and their impact on the hip hop and music industry
Music plays a significant role in the sporting world, particularly in the NBA, where superstars are avid fans of hip-hop artists. LeBron James stands out as one of the biggest music enthusiasts, following prominent names in the industry. So it was only natural when Drake released a diss track aimed at Lamar, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar addressed the situation through his social media platforms.
A few weeks ago, rapper Kendrick Lamar released a track alongside other artists that mocked fellow rapper Drake. When this song was played during a Lakers shootaround, James was seen singing a verse from that song. Now after Drake responded with a diss track against Lamar, the King had to chime and appreciate what was going on.

This comment backed up his earlier post with fire emojis. He suggested that the two diss tracks are lighting up the music charts, helping both of them in the process.
What James meant was that having the two major artists going at each other is just like how James has been pitted against other superstars during his time in the NBA. And the byproduct of that is that the league or the industry benefits majorly.
The all-time leading scorer in NBA history expects the diss tracks from both Drake and Kendrick Lamar to have a similar impact on the hip hop industry as a whole. It could also bring in a greater audience and uplift the industry.
LeBron James and his long-time appreciation of the music industry
Since coming into the league, LeBron James has always shown his appreciation for the music industry. A keen hip hop fan, the King has sung along on verses of some of the artists in public. Not only the great artists such as Jay Z or 50 Cent, but also upcoming musicians such as Glorilla, etc.
The biggest name in the basketball universe does not curb showcasing his fan mode whenever he gets a chance. He has even made long term friendships with many of them, where some were even invited to his recent exclusive birthday party.
Therefore, it is not surprising that LeBron James promotes both superstar rappers Kendrick Lamar and Drake. Even though they are dissing each other, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar knows what impact this will have on his favorite music genre.
