LeBron James suffers with right ankle injury as Hawks end LA Lakers’ winning streak

LeBron James injuries his right ankle

With Anthony Davis already out due to injury, the last thing required by the Los Angeles Lakers’ team was anything happening to LeBron James. Having already led his team to numerous victories solely in this season, LeBron James was one of the leading candidates for the season MVP as well. In LA Lakers’ most recent game against the Atlanta Hawks, LeBron suffered a right ankle injury.

In the second quarter of the game, Hawks Solomon Hill collided with LeBron in an attempt to get a loose ball, in the process Hill jumped onto LeBron’s ankle. Just after the collision LeBron cried in pain lying on the floor. The Lakers’ leader still tried to continue, but couldn’t.

After trying enough, James knocked over a chair in frustration on his way to the locker room and received X-rays and an MRI on the ankle after the game, sources told ESPN.

What could LeBron James’ injury mean for the LA Lakers?

“I haven’t necessarily seen him scream and scowl like that probably ever,” teammate Kyle Kuzma said.

Several of James’ teammates took exception with Hill’s involvement in the play.

“A guy dove for a loose ball, took his leg out from up under him,” Montrezl Harrell said. “I really don’t feel like it was one of those loose-ball plays. He had to go through his leg to get the ball, man. He was turned sideways. The ball was behind him. I mean, you’re jumping at an angle, going across this way, I mean, I don’t know how you feel that’s a loose ball.”

Talking about the particular game, the Lakers’ winning streak was brough to an end as the Hawks got the better of them 99-94, having led by John Collins who scored 27 points. Montrezl Harrell top scored for the home team with 23 points and 11 rebounds.
