In Short
  • LeBron James and Serena Williams publicly congratulated Michael B. Jordan on his Oscar win.
  • Jordan won Best Actor for his role in the film "Sinners" at the 2026 Oscars.
  • The sporting community celebrated Jordan's achievement with numerous supportive messages on social media.

Of late, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has been ensuring he gets a good word out to anyone who succeeds in their respective fields.

After all, who better than the four-time champion to know what it is like to be heavily criticized despite putting his heart and soul into his craft for more than two decades?

The Akron native does his best to have good relationships with everyone, but even then, there are many who do not appreciate what he has done for the world of basketball.

Nowadays, other than the usual social media trolls, former players have become vocal about what they do not like about the father of three. Even though he receives support from others, James has been more on the receiving end of ‘hate’ rather than ‘love.’

Then, when the likes of the Cleveland Cavaliers give him a tribute video, the 41-year-old could not hold back his tears, as those are some of the rare moments when ‘love’ overpowers ‘hate.’

Hollywood actor Michael B. Jordan has not been exactly receiving hate from critics, but many have been quietly suggesting he did not do that great a job to be nominated for Best Actor at most of the prestigious award shows.

But then, when it was time for the Oscars, the 39-year-old won his first Oscar for his leading role in the movie, Sinners, in which he co-starred with Hailee Steinfeld, the wife of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Sporting world congratulates Michael B. Jordan for his Oscar win

As soon as news trickled that Michael B. Jordan won the Oscar for Lead Actor, LeBron James was one of the first to give his flowers to the California-based Creed star. The Lakers star’s recent Mind the Game guest, Timothee Chalamet, was also nominated but lost to Jordan.

Then, Serena Williams followed with a post on her X page. Soon, others from the sporting world joined in to celebrate this monumental occasion. Check out examples of those reactions below.

Michael B. Jordan admittedly reinvigorated the interest in sports movies with his performance in the Creed franchise. However, his performance in Sinners was far too good to be undermined. That is why he stands with an Oscar in his hands.

Before LeBron James found something that brought a smile to his face with Michael B. Jordan’s Oscar win, he had also played an impressive role to help his Los Angeles Lakers win against their perennial Kryptonite, the Denver Nuggets.

His numbers may not reek of a superstar performance, but the four-time league MVP did everything the Lakers and his teammates needed him to do.

The league’s all-time leading scorer has been receiving criticism for potentially undermining the team during their previous struggles. But after such an impressive win, the superstar had to come out with something to remind his critics of what he brings to the team.

He and his team put together a clip showcasing all his activities before, during, and after the game. One of them was his ‘clutch’ hustle to ensure the ball stays with his team. That should stop the slander for a while.
