LeBron James is an avid football fanatic and never misses a chance to catch a game or play Madden. Today, he was about to witness the first preseason debut of a certain Cleveland Browns QB named Shedeur Sanders.
The 23-year-old QB had a much-maligned draft, where many believe team owners and executives intentionally avoided drafting him in the first few rounds to teach him a lesson.
The sequence of those events led to a loss of face for the Colorado Buffaloes star, and he had to dig deep then and fight amidst a crowded Browns QB room. Luckily for him, injuries to other QBs meant he would be the first to start their preseason game against the Panthers.
Sanders took a while to get used to the NFL’s faster and more physical play, which saw him run around a bit, trying to avoid getting sacked. The first three drives ended in two punts and then a turnover on downs.
The second of those punts was fumbled by the Carolina Panthers, giving the ball back in Sanders’ hands. He took full advantage of the short field and threw a 7-yard pass in between three defenders to Kaden Davis for the Browns’ first touchdown.
That young (Prince emoticon) looking good out there! Shedeur Sanders Keep going UP!!! HEAD down on the grind and HEAD high to the most high.

This was LeBron James‘ reaction after that first touchdown, calling on the young QB to keep his head down and let his grind do the talking on the field. Fans and analysts were in sync with the Lakers’ superstar, as Sanders looked calm and composed.
LeBron James calls out critics for hypocrisy over Shedeur Sanders
This was the first preseason game for the Cleveland Browns, which means Shedeur Sanders was playing with mostly practice squad players. The lack of practice was on full display in the next drive when the 23-year-old had to run around to stay upright.
Then came the 6th drive of the 1st half, and the QB’s first throw saw them lose yards. On the next play, the Panthers’ defense came at him, and he scrambled right to buy time.
As soon as he saw one of his receivers, undrafted fellow rookie Luke Floriea, break open from his coverage, Sanders threw a pass that Floriea caught one-handed just before running out of bounds.
After two straight runs up the middle, Shedeur Sanders was asked to throw a touchdown, and he composed himself to throw one again to an outstretched Kaden Davis.
And I don’t wanna hear that “It’s only preseason” bs. Cause if he was out there not going in y’all would be on his a** about it! So give credit and grace lames.

This was LeBron James’ second tweet after he saw Shedeur Sanders essentially silencing his critics with his play. This tweet was a reminder to those naysayers because he, of all people, knows how they will look to bring up excuses just to undermine the Browns QB.

James has met Sanders before when he and his Colorado teammate Travis Hunter appeared courtside at a Lakers game. Moreover, the 40-year-old sent them customized memorabilia, which seems to indicate that the Sanders’ and James’ are close.
NBA to bank on LeBron James and Stephen Curry’s magic on opening night
LeBron James seems happy that Shedeur Sanders’ rookie season has started in this manner. Having spent 22 seasons in the NBA, he knows what expectations are and how the media reacts to every move.

There is no denying the fact that the Browns QB dominates NFL viewership. The Lakers star has a similar impact on the NBA, and when combined with rival, friend, and USA national basketball teammate, Stephen Curry, it usually results in a big night for the league.

That is what Adam Silver is hoping to achieve after scheduling the Los Angeles Lakers to play against the Golden State Warriors on opening night. The league just cannot get enough of the two biggest superstars, knowing the crowds they will draw.
