LeBron James should have three statues after retiring, says Gilbert Arenas
Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas has backtracked on his previous statement about LeBron James getting a statue after retirement.
Gilbert Arenas and LeBron James
LeBron James has been one of the most consistent players in the NBA throughout his career. He has won many accolades in his career, with his most recent one being the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. James has also won NBA titles with the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Miami Heat, and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas gave his thoughts on the NBA legend. He said that the timeless superstar deserved three staggering bronze statues for his championship-winning runs with the Heat, the Cavaliers, and most recently the Lakers. It was a huge statement from Arenas, especially considering how he has treated James in the past.
James is looking to surpass his impressive record of 40,474 career regular season points and 48,636 combined regular season and post-season points during the next two years. His greatness knows no bounds and he continues to break records every season.
Gilbert Arenas once had ‘different views’ on LeBron James getting a statue after retirement
Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas is known for his unusual and controversial takes in and around the sport. He decided to test the waters when was asked about LeBron James in an appearance on the ‘NightCap’ show in March earlier this year.
Arenas was asked if James deserved to be memorialized in bronze by host Shannon Sharpe. In response, he offered up a stinging rebuke.
It was a bold statement by Arenas. However, just months later, he changed his tune and claimed that James would have three statues after he retired. Even NBA fans do not seem to understand Arenas’ controversial takes at the time. His recent statement contradicts his own words and it remains unclear as to what new statement Arenas will come out in the future.
