DeMarcus Cousins was labeled a bully by media whereas LeBron James is not
The LeBron James–Stephen A. Smith confrontation has exploded all over the internet and people associated with sports are talking about it. Most are taking the Los Angeles Lakers superstar’s side after he stood up for his son.
When it comes to family, a confrontation makes it seem worthwhile. That is what the 40-year-old superstar had in mind when he left his team midway to call the ESPN analyst out publicly. He wanted Smith to back off from negative conversations surrounding his son Bronny James.
Smith has acknowledged that James was not wrong considering he was doing it for his family. He did feel slighted that it was in public but still clarified that he did not have any ill feelings about it. This came to the attention of DeMarcus Cousins.
It’s cool when they do it, it’s a problem when I do it… I was called a villain, bully, thug when I confronted a reporter for speaking on my family. Got suspended fined and eventually traded. I Look forward to getting my lick back!

His words are a clap back at the media’s double standards. Back in 2016, he confronted a Sacramento journalist after he mentioned Cousins’ brother in a column covering the then Kings superstar’s bar fight along with Matt Barnes.

Cousins believes after that incident, the media labelled him a thug and a bully. That negative discourse pushed the Sacramento Kings to trade him to the New Orleans Pelicans. But LeBron James gets a free pass, which seemingly shows that the media pander to some superstars more than others.
DeMarcus Cousins’ outburst was different from LeBron James’
Matt Barnes and DeMarcus Cousins got into fist fight with a couple inside a bar in Sacramento. The Sacramento Bee’s Andy Furillo had written an article about it where he mentioned that Cousins’ brother Jaleel, was arrested for the altercation.
We’re gonna have some real f**king issues. Don’t ever mention my brother again. You don’t know my f**king brother. F**king coward. You say whatever the f**k you want to say about me, but don’t mention my m***erf**king family.

When one sees hears the words he says, the former center was a bit more threatening towards Furillo. The situation the reporter wrote about was a crime that Cousins, his brother and Barnes committed. These two combined make it a far different scenario than what LeBron James’ situation with Stephen A. Smith was.
