America’s basketball team is probably one of the greatest when it comes to performing on the international stage. Not long ago, they clinched their historic fifth consecutive gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
That team consisted of star names like LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and more. That being said, despite winning the gold medal just a few months ago, they are already planning for the 2028 LA Olympics.
Legends like James and Curry have played their role to perfection for their nation. When the next Olympics comes around, Team USA will have a completely new lineup without its seasoned stars. Notably, as per The Athletic, upcoming NBA stars like Zion Williamson and Ja Morant are being lined up as the heirs of the current NBA legends in Team USA. According to a USA Basketball source, the two will be important in Los Angeles.
We will still have a great chance to win gold, but it won’t be easy, Ja and Zion need to be in the mix. Moving forward, hopefully they can get on track and stay on track.

Due to various ailments, Williamson missed most of his rookie season. Morant has also missed a significant amount of time because of suspensions and injuries. Only nine games into the 2023–24 season, he had to undergo a season-ending surgery on his right shoulder. Hence, it will first be important to see how these stars develop and if they can stay fit over the years.

In the men’s basketball final at the Paris Olympics, the Los Angeles Lakers star led the United States to a 98-87 victory over France. Two months ago, while the celebrations were underway, the basketball legend also revealed some news about the 2028 Olympics.
I can’t see myself playing in Los Angeles 2028. I didn’t see myself playing in Paris 2024 too. But four years from now, I can’t see it.
