LeBron James Streams Benny the Butcher Song With Zion Williamson-Moriah Mills Reference And NBA Fans Are Amused
Benny the Butcher made an out-of-pocket reference on Zion Williamson and Moriah Mills, but LeBron James was unfazed as he posted an IG story.

When it comes to NBA players being name-dropped on rap songs, LeBron James is, well, the LeBron James of rap references. Every year, he gets scores of name-drops on new hip-hop tracks. Benny the Butcher recently made a track that turned eyebrows, but the Lakers superstar found it to be a really good track.
The Buffalo-based rapper is in the process of rolling out his new album Summertime Butch 2, a sequel to his 2024 drop Summertime Butch. He dropped a promo single off this album on July 1 named Summer ’25. In addition to his typical NBA-heavy references, wherein he acknowledged the OKC Thunder winning the championship, Benny the Butcher also had words for Zion Williamson, Moriah Mills and their sticky situation.
The lyrics to the start of the first verse of this freestyle number are as follows:
It’s summer ’25 already, look how quick a year passed
The Thunder won a chip, the whole LA smell like teargas
Connect still tappin in, I told him I’m retired still
He said you gon’ regret it like Zion regret Moriah Mills
LeBron James, who was recently dissed again by Drake on his latest single What Did I Miss? after his January leak Fighting Irish Freestyle in which he called out James for ‘siding with’ Kendrick Lamar in their beef, was not fazed by this out-of-pocket reference. A lover of hip-hop who’s platformed several artists, James clearly liked Summer ’25.
The 40-year-old posted a trademark car stereo video of himself listening to the new single while driving around in Ohio, where he’s currently training during the offseason, on his Instagram stories. Benny the Butcher spotted this and was clearly overjoyed. He tweeted the clip of James vibing to his song for his fans.

Benny the Butcher also has a 2024 song with LeBron James in the title
41-year-old Benny has been one of the most consistent hip-hop artists with his regular project drops over the past eight years. He released three separate projects in 2024 and had several features and collaborations with members of Buffalo collective Griselda. The first of those was his album with Def Jam called Everybody Can’t Go, released in January last year.

The album has a collaboration with Lil Wayne named Big Dog, in addition to standouts like Jermanie’s Graduation and Bron. Bron, as you might have guessed, is LeBron James’ nickname, and Benny the Butcher’s 2:34 track has two lyrically dextrous verses with a hook that goes
And I’m ‘Bron
After the chip, I told my folks back home, “So long”
I move my family and my bricks to a place where it’s warm
I’m back in championship condition
I can’t resist all this winnin’
It’s like me and success built a bond
The music video for the song also has prospects Hailee Swain and Caleb Wilson featured in it.
