LeBron James, Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler

LeBron James and his Los Angeles Lakers knew they were going to face a different iteration of Steph Curry and his Golden State Warriors. Ever since they added Jimmy Butler to their lineup, the team have been on a tear.

Their 20-4 run featuring him in the lineup is evidence enough that he is helping them win. James knows what his team will face in Butler after his experience going up against him in their last NBA Finals run. Despite all that knowledge, the Lakers could not do anything as they lost 116-123.

They were behind from the first quarter and could not catchup even though they tried everything. Most of their problems was on Luka Doncic and the Lakers bench. They could not get anything going and struggled to help James.

The 40-year-old though, kept up his side of the bargain and scored a team-high 33 points off 66.7% shooting. After the game, he was asked if Jimmy Butler has added a different dynamic to the Warriors, to which he said.

I’ve been a part of them making big acquisitions to change their dynamic of their team before. I had to go against them when they added Kevin Durant. Jimmy Butler is great. He adds a toughness to them. He adds a Championship DNA type of guy. It’s always the same. They always figure it out.

LeBron James said

With this statement, it seems LeBron James is indicating that the Golden State Warriors have always added some superstar to alter their team dynamic. He understands they are getting a superstar with championship DNA in him, which makes them a solid threat.

Fans slam LeBron James’ take

Fans listening to LeBron James believe he is conveniently ignoring the fact that he has Luka Doncic beside him. He also had Anthony Davis with him for nearly five years and only has one championship to show. They feel the 40-year-old is finding excuses even though he has the teammates to win games.

They were reminded of his constant complaints to both the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers to add additional pieces. Fans found this complaint about Jimmy Butler was unnecessary. Rather they saw how his team fumbled a game they could have won. Check out examples of those comments below.

The Akron native could have used a different analogy to talk about Jimmy Butler. Bringing back the Kevin Durant conversation was his way of suggesting that the Golden State Warriors have always had stacked teams. Fans pointed out that he has had stacked teams but not the championships to show for.

James and Lakers won’t have excuses if they lose remaining games

Six games remain for the Los Angeles Lakers in this regular season. They have to win the majority of them if they are to remain in a favorable playoff seeding. They are currently fourth, but could slide down if they lose many games.

Their form has not been anywhere close to what they displayed back in February. With the margins so little in the Western Conference, the last thing they need is to find excuses. LeBron James has to will his team to elevate their level of play.

Else they could find themselves facing the Denver Nuggets in the first round. Or worse, they could slide down to the play in spots. Head coach JJ Redick has talked about avoiding the play in. But to do that, they have to start winning games consistently. Then only can they get that much needed rest before the playoffs start.
