Most of the sports world’s attention is locked onto the drama surrounding LeBron James, his agent, Rich Paul, Jeanie Buss, and the Los Angeles Lakers ever since an ESPN article came out.
Written by Baxter Holmes, the article was primarily focused on how infighting amongst the Buss family members eventually forced the franchise governor to seek a sale.
After handing it over to Mark Walter for a deal valued at $10 billion, she fired her two remaining brothers in the Lakers’ organization, Joey and Jesse Buss.
Other than the family drama, the article also detailed how Jeanie Buss has been unhappy about the way James and his agent went about their business, taking credit for the franchise’s success.
Holmes also revealed that the 64-year-old was not happy with how the King’s ‘outsized ego’ and apparent ungratefulness towards the franchise after they drafted his son, Bronny James.
Then, the article revealed that Dr. Jerry Buss‘ daughter even thought of trading LeBron James away in 2022, and was not interested in giving him contract extensions.
It’s really not right, given all the great things LeBron has done for the Lakers, that he has to be pulled into my family drama. To say that it wasn’t appreciated is just not true and completely unfair to him.
The Athletic’s Sam Amick quoted Jeanie Buss
Lakers governor Jeanie Buss issued this statement to @TheAthletic in response to today’s ESPN story, which includes reporting about her relationship with LeBron James.

“It’s really not right, given all the great things LeBron has done for the Lakers, that he has to be pulled…
The governor’s words to Amick seem to suggest that Baxter Holmes’ article is not the truth, and that she has been appreciative of what the league’s all-time leading scorer has brought to her team.
LeBron James posts highlight reel reminding fans of his ‘greatness’
As the hours ticked on after the article came out, naturally, everyone was debating about how LeBron James had apparently undermined the Los Angeles Lakers organization with his selfish ways.

Even though his agent, Rich Paul, talked about how the article does not reveal the actual truth, many were still convinced that the all-time leading scorer wanted to run things his way.
Since there is no Lakers’ game until tomorrow against the Los Angeles Clippers, reporters will not be able to get a direct sound bite from the 41-year-old. Instead, to make his point, LeBron James posted a video on Instagram.
He reshared the clip to his stories, which shows the Akron native’s best highlights from his 23rd season in the league. This clip was created by GraydientVisuals, who works with Klutch Sports athletes.
That is why, at the end of the video, the agency’s logo was displayed, probably as a reminder that whatever the accusations are, James and Klutch have been successful so far.
ESPN article could still impact LeBron James’ situation
Jeanie Buss claiming that the ESPN article was incorrect in how her relationship with LeBron James was might be a bit late. Generally, when such an explosive insight comes to the fore, it tends to ruffle a lot of feathers.
Usually, when things like this start to trickle out, something is about to go down. I don’t know what that is, but that’s usually how this works.
Chris Haynes said on SiriusXM NBA Radio
The longtime league insider reiterated that he is not aware of any news regarding the Lakers or their roster. However, when such articles do come out, they tend to lead to something else.

That something else depends on how major the revelations were. It seems he is pointing towards recent situations, such as when the Charlotte Hornets benched LaMelo Ball. Some felt it was a precursor to a possible trade.
Likewise, the situation developing in San Francisco was leading towards a trade for Jonathan Kuminga. However, Jimmy Butler‘s ACL tear stopped that from happening. With less than three weeks remaining for the trade deadline, it seems everyone’s eyes are back on the Lakers.
