LeBron James is one of the most popular athletes in the world. That is why the Los Angeles Lakers superstar needs an entourage around him to help maintain his space. He invests in security, both for himself and his family, along with members of the staff who guide him wherever he goes.

Whether it was at the Paris Olympics, where he had to yell at teenagers to give him space. The sparse security at the Miami Grand Prix, for instance, forced him to pause at times as he made his way to his car. Otherwise, he is well-protected wherever he goes.

But sometimes, fans manage to get close to the 40-year-old. For instance, he was scheduled to host a special edition of his Mind the Game podcast alongside co-host Steve Nash at the Fanatics Fest in New York City.

A video sourced from TMZ shows the 4-time NBA champion walking with his entourage towards the entrance. As he gets close, a New Yorker fan tries to get an autograph from him. When he denies, the fan starts yelling:

Get outta here LeBron. Go back to LA. Don’t come to New York with that s**t. LeBum. You’ll never beat Jordan! Or Kobe!

The fan gets support from his fellow New Yorkers, who continue to taunt the Los Angeles Lakers superstar. LeBron James does not respond and walks right into the entrance as his security detail tries to move the yelling fan away from behind him.

LeBron James jokes about teaming up with Michael Jordan

At the Fanatics Fest, LeBron James and Steve Nash talked about various basketball topics. Thankfully, the New Yorkers inside the Fest were a lot more forgiving and were listening to the two talk. In between one of the discussions, the father of three says this to the crowd:

There was nobody more inspiring to me than Michael Jordan. Our games would have complemented as well. MJ was a flat-out scorer. If I had to pick, but I know I can’t pick him, because I know social media works. You guys gonna be like, ‘Oh, you gonna play with Michael Jordan too? You already played with everybody else.’

LeBron James said

The 4-time league MVP finished off talking about this by claiming that he knows what the headline would be after this statement. It would be about him wanting to play along with Michael Jordan. The fans sitting inside chuckled when he said this, knowing that is how the world reacts to the Lakers’ superstar.

LeBron James spent nothing on his attire

After speaking at the Fanatics Fest, LeBron James was about to leave the premises. He was sitting on a golf cart with his entourage, ready to be driven to the exit, when YouTuber ChrisTooSmoove caught up with the Los Angeles Lakers superstar.

He wanted to know the entire cost of the 40-year-old’s attire. The superstar started with his hat and claimed it was free. He then talked about his free chain, the free watch that he was wearing, along with the jewelry. James then quipped to sum up how clothing is for him.

If it’s free, it’s for me.

Despite being a billionaire, LeBron James has a reputation for being miserly. Be it free wifi or free streaming, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer looks for free things whenever possible. Everything he was wearing to this event was sponsored, hence it was free for the most famous basketball player in the world.
