“Left you like a little seesaw”- Conor McGregor hits back at Paulie Malignaggi for supporting Jake Paul

UFC megastar Conor McGregor is not fond of criticism from any of his foes and acquaintances, and that definitely includes former world boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi who’s a little bit of both. McGregor, who last fought at UFC 264 where he lost his trilogy against Dustin Poirier due to a fractured shinbone resulting in the match to end in Poirier’s favour as doctor’s stoppage is now taking steps to return inside the Octagon and has started his MMA training since the completion of his recovery post-surgery.

McGregor, the former UFC double champion expects himself to return for the lightweight title while the MMA community that shouldn’t be the idea otherwise. It seems like McGregor needs to prove himself to be worthy of a title fight all over again in order to become the UFC champion. The most ideal fights however remain big in terms of names and rankings, such as Islam Makhachev, Rafael Dos Anjos, Jorge Masvidal, Nate Diaz and Dustin Poirier.

Recently, McGregor shared a video of him practising power hooks on a mitt. The video garnered many reactions and Youtuber-cum-boxer Jake Paul, who eagerly wishes to fight McGregor sometime in the future, critically reacted to McGregor’s skills citing the wide-open chin vulnerable to a knockout and hands being down. In addition to this, Paulie Malignaggi, McGregor’s former training partner who broke ties with the Irish mixed-martial artist due to the leaking of their sparring footage back in 2017, something considered unethical as per training rules, agreed to Paul’s points.

Malignaggi basically said “I agree with Jake. Connor is light work” and responding to a critical fan of Malginaggi’s boxing who claimed that McGregor would “destroy” both him and Paul in one night, Malignaggi said, “He ain’t s**t.” McGregor came to respond to Malignaggi with a picture of him in boxing headgear and gloves standing in front but afar from a fallen Malignaggi in the same accessories, and wrote in captions “I left you like a little seesaw.

What do you make of this back and forth between Malignaggi and McGregor? Do you think McGregor will fight either one of Paul and Malignaggi in the coming future if the latter has to return to boxing? In his boxing debut back in 2017, for which McGregor brought in Malignaggi to train, the former went 10 rounds against Floyd Mayweather before succumbing to the volume punches, someone who’s considered to be one of the greatest boxers of all time.
