Shedeur Sanders falling to the fifth round in the NFL Draft will be one of the biggest unsolved mysteries of 2025. A quarterback with a 70% completion rate, 4,000+ yards in his last college football season, impressive football IQ, and an insane work ethic is what every NFL team looks for in a prospect.

Shedeur had all of it, yet all 32 NFL teams skipped over him, not once, not twice, but four times. After his unexpected fall from grace, fans began to speculate over the reason.

One of the prime speculations was that Shedeur Sanders did not lack the skills, but his attitude, his confidence, and bold statements early on resulted in teams using this opportunity to teach him a lesson. A valuable lesson in humility was perhaps not the main reason that caused him to drop in the draft, but his pre-draft interviews were.

Three weeks before ‘D-Day,’ NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero shared insights he had received by speaking to coaches interviewing draft prospects. The most shocking part of his report was the feedback surrounding Shedeur Sanders. It was reported that the quarterback was far from what he portrayed himself to be in front of the world.

An anonymous ‘longtime NFL assistant coach’ went all-in on criticizing Sanders. He dubbed his interview with him as “the worst formal interview” that he has been a part of. The reason for the negative review, Sanders’ attitude and body language.

The detailed quote is as follows: “He’s so entitled. He takes unnecessary sacks. He never plays on time. He has horrible body language. He blames teammates…But the biggest thing is, he’s not that good.”

From this, it is evident that the coach has no love for Sanders, but to deliver such a scathing opinion, something ought to have gone wrong. Initially, fans began to question the coach, but now, another revelation from New York Giants insider Wesley Steinberg claims the Cleveland Browns and the Sanders family have threatened to sue the Giants if the footage of his meeting with Brian Daboll were to be released in the public domain.

Shedeur Sanders did not have a good meeting with the Giants

Steinberg’s claims cannot be dismissed without a thought.

Sure, the Giants are not the best judge of a quarterback’s talent. This is the same team that grilled Jayden Daniels and came to the conclusion that he was no good. Daniels subsequently became the best player from his draft class, won the Rookie of the Year honors, and led his team to the playoffs. However, for both the Browns and the Sanders family to threaten them with legal repercussions is extreme.

There were other concerns, like Sanders being “insulated” in the locker room throughout his college career. This is because his father was the HC, and that comes with some obvious benefits. Coaches in the NFL are adamant, and more importantly, if an athlete strays away from the game plan, they will not think for one second before benching him. Sanders did not experience that in Colorado.

The Giants were the favorites to land Sanders. Remember, the quarterback was hanging out with Malik Nabers on the streets of NY, attending Knicks games, and doing everything in his power to speak it into existence. It seemed like the franchise was keen on making it work, but evidently, his interview was the turning point that led them to pick Jaxson Dart over Shedeur Sanders.

Hopefully, the Giants keep the allegedly controversial video hidden to prevent Sanders from any form of humiliation. The quarterback is focusing on making the best of his current situation as he gears up to show his true abilities to his critics.
