Following their latest defeat at the hands of Chelsea, Leicester City decided to axe their manager, Steve Cooper. In an official media release, Leicester has confirmed that Cooper will be leaving his position as first team manager with immediate effect. Alongside Cooper, assistant manager, Alan Tate and analyst Steve Rands have stepped down from their roles.

Saturday’s 2-1 defeat by Chelsea saw the Foxes languish in the 16th position, one point above the relegation zone. Despite being above the bottom three, the management was afraid that the kind of performances that Leicester City have knitted under the reign of Steve Cooper wasn’t enough.

The in-game stats for the Foxes took an upward curve for certain, but the results didn’t reflect the same, corroborating the concerns of the thinktank.

Leicester City Football Club has parted company with Steve Cooper, who leaves his position as First Team Manager with immediate effect. Assistant Manager Alan Tate and First Team Coach and Analyst Steve Rands have also left the Club. Steve, Alan and Steve depart with our thanks for their contribution during their time with the Club and with our best wishes for the future.

Leicester City said in an official statement

It has been a constant downward curve for the Foxes. Prior to their defeat against Chelsea, they also went down against Manchester United. Against a depleted Ipswich Town, Leicester City couldn’t conjure anything brilliant either, as they drew 1-1. They were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Manchester United who scored five past them.

Ruud van Nistelrooy is tipped to be the next Leiecester City boss

Meanwhile, Ruud van Nistelrooy, who led the charge for Manchester United as an interim manager before Ruben Amorim arrived, is one of the forerunners for the Leicester job.

The Foxes’ authority was mighty impressed with the phenomenal job that van Nistelrooy did at Manchester United during his short stay at the club, as reported by SunSport.

The report also stated that another man who can be the favorite for the Leicester City job is none other than Graham Potter. The ex-Brighton and Chelsea boss has been on a hiatus for a year now.

However, the prospect of the Leicester City job might just draw him out. For now, Leicester City will be looked after by men’s first team coach, Ben Dawson, while he will be supported by Danny Alcock and Andy Hughes.
