Leicester City set to begin process of extending contract of influential midfielder Youri Tielemans after interest in Christian Eriksen cooled down
Youri Tielemans
Leicester City were seriously interested in signing Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen from Inter Milan on loan in the month of January. However his salary demands was a detriment to signing him and any move for the midfielder was plugged soon enough. Leicester City will however try to sign a new midfielder come the season end and the summer transfer window begins.
Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans being targeted by other clubs as he shows his worth
The Belgian midfielder has been one of the most influential players for the Brendan Rodgers managed club. Along with Jamie Vardy and James Maddison, Youri Tielemans has been one of the most consistent players for the former Liverpool manager. Rumours have always been there which have linked him to Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United in the past but nothing concrete has come out of those rumours.
Any move for the Belgian midfielder will cost a lot of money as Leicester City have the habit of signing players on the cheap and then selling them for big money. Leicester signed Harry Maguire from Hull City for £17 million and sold him to Manchester United for £80 million. Similarly Ben Chilwell rose from the Leicester u18 ranks and was later on sold to Chelsea for £50 million. Leicester City have made mad profits for players they have signed and have a transfer policy similar to Borussia Dortmund.
Youri Tielemans signed for Leicester City from Monaco for a fee of £40 million and Leicester will expect to sell him for atleast double the fee to make a profit. Moves like that could be near to impossible in this COVID-19 era and therefore it is expected that Leicester City will succeed in getting a contract extension with him.
