Things come and go. Things change but one thing that has failed to change. You might ask what it is. It is the fine scoring touch of Jamie Vardy. The talismanic striker opened the scoring for the Foxes on the opening day of the Premier League 2021/22 campaign. After a dull first 39 minutes. Jamie Vardy was able to find the back of the net for Leicester City. The Brendan Rodgers’ men grew into the game in the fag end of the first half with some great passes and shots on target. However, the first half ended at 1-0.

In the second half, Wolves started on a brighter note stringing multiple passes. However, that was not enough as Leicester City defense and midfield kept them at the bay. The tensions grew in the midfield as both sides tried to continue to score the goal. However, teams found it tough as the defense were upto the mark.

Kasper Schmeichel (7.2/10): Though the shots were fired at him, Kasper Schmeichel had very less to do against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The shot-stopper was a rock between the sticks.

Ricardo Pereira (7.2/10): When it seemed like the teams will go 0-0 at the halftime, Ricardo Pereira assisted his team wit h a fine cross from the right flank. He helped his side to break the deadlock as Vardy converted it perfectly.

Thomas Amartey (7.2/10): Thomas Amartey filled the void in the absence of Wesley Fofana. He was upto the task against Adama Traore and returning Raul Jimenez.

Caglar Soyuncu (7.2/10): After a poor outing in EURO 2020, the Turkish defender was able to make amends and keep the Wolves at bay.

Luke Thomas (7/10): Though he failed to create the chances from the left-flank, he was solid as rock in the defense. He kept Adama Traore on his toes.

Wilfred Ndidi (7.2/10): Ndidi was one of the key men in the midfield for Leicester City. He had success rate of 95% throughout the game against Wolves.

Youri Tielemans (7.5/10): The star behind Leicester City’s success in the FA Cup last season and FA Community Shield 2021, Tielemans was the go-to man in the midfield. He helped out his attack and defense throughout the game.

James Maddison (6/10): James Maddison, rumoured in a move to Arsenal, was not impactful with his performances on the pitch. He failed to create opportunities for his side throughout the 60 minutes he was on the pitch.

Harvey Barnes (6.5/10): Harvey Barnes created multiple opportunities for his side but was not able to capitalize the same on the counter attack. He completed one of the few dribbles in the game.

Ayoze Perez (6.1/10): He won one aerial duel and had a pass success rate of 86% throughout the game. He was subbed on at the hour mark.

Jamie Vardy (7.8/10): The striker has aged like a fine wine. He once again scored on the opening day of the season for Foxes. However, he failed to find the back of the net multiple times as Wolves’ defenders marked him perfectly.

Substitutions:

Yannick Vestegaard (6.2/10): The former Southampton player came on as a substitute and helped the team to win the game with his contributions in the final minutes.

Boubacary Soumare (7/10): The former LOSC Lille player was impressive on his debut. He had a pass percentage of 88 and completed two dribbles.

Jose Sa (7/10): On his debut, Jose Sa tried to do his best for Wolves. However, he could not win the game. He conceded only one goal and stopped the opposition from scoring more.

Conor Coady (6.8/10): Throughout the game, Coady was robust and solid for his team. However, he will be blamed for his poor man-marking for the first goal.

Roman Saiss (6.8/10): The central defender was a key reason behind solid defensive work of Wolves. Without him, Wolves would have conceded multiple goals.

Maximilian Kilman (7/10): One of the brightest spots for the new gaffer. The defender stopped the opposition from scoring with his three tackles as well as one aerial duel victory.

Ruben Neves (6.5/10): Rumoured with a move away from Molineux, Ruben Neves failed to justify his selection at King Power Stadium. He won one aerial header and had a pass completion rate of 80%.

Joao Moutinho (6.2/10): It was an abysmal performance from former Manchester United player. He was non-existential throughout the game. The player was subbed in the 66th minute.

Ki Jana Hoever (6.5/10):The player was less impressive on his outing. He completed four tackles against the Foxes on Saturday.

Marcal (6/10): Received the first yellow card of the game after he tried to stop Moutinho from involving in a counter attack. However, he was able to keep the opposition at bay.

Raul Jimenez (6.8/10): Raul Gimenez played his first ever competitive game after the horrific skull injury. He was unimpressive against Leicester City at King Power Stadium.

Adama Traore (7.2/10): Completed 10 dribbles for his team. But Adama Traore was unable to score any goal for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Trincao (7.0/10): Though Trincao was unable to score goals, he completed five dribbles and had pass percentage of close to 80%.

Substitutions:

Dendonecker (6.6/10): Came as a substitute for Joao Moutinho. He could win three tackles in the final minutes of the game.
