The UFC welterweight division had a major shakeup at the UFC 304 PPV main event in July 2024. One part of that was Leon Edwards, who lost out his title gold to Belal Muhammad. ‘Rocky’ has had a rocky going and was looking to make up some momentum to get right back into a title rematch. He met Sean Brady during tonight’s UFC London main card event headliner at The O2 Arena.
Leon Edwards had a lot of pent-up state losing the gold and acclimating to the ungodly 6 A.M. US pay-per-view schedule slot, last time. But this time, he meant to do it by hook or crook. Sean Brady posed his own problems, though. The UFC London headliner came out in a flurry, taking center stage and piling the pressure. Edwards played defense to counter and answered with his signature kicking power to the body.
With 90 seconds in R1, the Philly wrestler landed a huge trip TD. Round 2 started sloppy but similar. Leon Edwards, seemingly hesitant, answered what he could. The fight was in Brady’s element, and he worked wonders from half-guard and a slight body triangle. Brady again took his back in a late scramble and some ground-and-pounds. Round 3 was much the same with Rocky just fending off mild damaging shots.

However, the gaping holes in his wrestling game was all but clear in R4 when he got arm-scooped in a double-leg takedown. Sean Brady clicked his hip on cue as UFC London fans cued their exit seeing their home-turf fighter dominated. A twitch and an orthodox single-arm guillotine later, it was all pressure! Brady defeated him via submission (guillotine choke) in the fourth round after Edwards tapped.
MMA Pro Twitter reacts to Leon Edwards’ loss
Camp Renegade MMA and coach Dave Lovell presented that Leon Edwards was around ‘30-40 percent‘ of Edwards against Belal Muhammad. The early morning slot also drained a lot out of the fighter. But even prepping for that did not help him this time. Sean Brady shut him down throughout the UFC London main event.

He even rushed into a clean uppercut from Edwards in round 2. But wrestling-wise, he was just superior, continually transitioning from back to top control. It wasn’t massive damage, but some rear attempts, a slick kimura-like transition, and a choke later, Brady came out the clear winner. He became the first man to finish Rocky at UFC London!
Here are what Brady’s peers and the MMA Community think of his momentous win:

Brady backed Edwards up with strikes and took him down less than a minute into the fourth round. He locked in a one-armed guillotine from top position. Edwards was forced to tap. What’s the biggest thing to come out of Edwards’ loss and this discourse? His rivalry with Belal Muhammad, of course! “Bully Belal” (@bullyb170 on X) quipped “Leon’s still on 5 am time zone.”
Even though the champion did not get his own submission over a dazed Leon Edwards, he later touted on X “Just how good is Belal“! Now, Edwards falls into a 0-2 slump. Brady, who looked comfortable against former UFC welterweight champ Edwards, expects to be ranked number one.
