The New Year brought saddening news for Leonard Williams: once again, he couldn’t find his name on the 2025 Pro Bowl roster. The lone name included from the lineup of the Seattle Seahawks was cornerback Devon Witherspoon, leaving Williams to wonder where things were wrong for him.
Williams had just completed the most productive season of his 10-year career, recording 33 solo tackles and 9 sacks. However, his name was conspicuously absent when reviewing the 2025 Pro Bowler roster. Although he tried his best to remain composed, he couldn’t conceal his disappointment while speaking to the media.
Try as he might, Leonard Williams hasn't been able to exercise indifference when it comes to Pro Bowl voting.

This isn’t the first time Williams found himself snubbed off the Pro Bowl roster. Back in 2020, he recorded a career-high sacks count of 11.5 with the New York Giants but he still did not receive the Pro Bowl selection. This season, Williams established himself as a top defender in the league with a significant impact on the Seahawks, even though they got eliminated from the playoff berth last week.
Leonard Williams highlights importance of respect from peers after pro bowl exclusion
The Seahawks players, including Witherspoon, were equally shocked to discover that Williams’ name was missing from the Pro Bowl roster. Quarterback Geno Smith and the cornerback both expressed their disbelief at the snub.
This situation underscores the sentiments Williams shared during his conversation with the media, admitting the respect and prominence he earned in the league from his teammates, coaches, and other players matters more to him.
Furthermore, the defensive tackle appreciated the selection his teammate got by the Pro Bowl, calling it ‘most deserving.’ As for his non-selection, he didn’t believe it had anything to do with him playing in Seattle, noting that he faced a similar situation in 2020 with the Giants despite being in a major media market.
