As Shedeur Sanders gears up to make his mark in the NFL, all eyes are on him. The 144th overall pick in the 2025 Draft is in a rough position as he is the fifth quarterback in the Cleveland Browns quarterback room. He is competing for a job alongside the likes of Joe Flacco, Deshaun Watson, Dillon Gabriel, and Kenny Pickett.
Shedeur Sanders understands that he is not in an ideal position. However, he is sticking to his work ethic, putting his head down, and trusting that his game will make a good enough case for him to earn the top job or at least save him from getting cut.
Many fans are confident in Sanders’ ability to play. The quarterback’s game has convinced Super Bowl-winning veterans such as LeSean McCoy that within no time, Shedeur will be the QB1 of the Cleveland Browns. On the latest episode of The Facility, McCoy cited the young quarterback’s work ethic as the key differentiator, and the biggest reason why he will be the starter within a matter of few weeks.
A lot of people say a lot of different things about Shedeur but now I feel like they’re starting to really understand what’s going on now. You get drafted in the fifth round…but now we get to it, and the HC is saying, ‘Hey, we’re going to split these reps up…We gonna give everyone a chance.’ That’s because you’ve seen what that kid looks like at practice, you’ve seen his work ethic, everything you’ve heard about him is not true.
The Super Bowl champ-turned analyst strongly believes that watching Sanders practice at rookie minicamp has convinced Kevin Stefanski that there is a lot more to him than the pre-draft rumors and noise from critics. His draft number is irrelevant. If the man has all the makings of a starting quarterback then he deserves this opportunity.
LeSean McCoy sees Tom Brady-esque characteristics in Shedeur Sanders
The analyst did not stop there, he took it a step further and compared Sanders to the greatest ever to do it.
Don’t let the jewelry, the music, and the swagger fool you. He a hard worker, First thing the head coach said, ‘Hey, he’s the first one in the building, he’s the last one to leave. Sounds like someone else I know, his name was Brady…The thing I love about Shedeur is he seems way more focused, and ‘I’m here, I ain’t here to be nobody’s backup.’ I think he gonna be starting in the next five games…
That is a bold comparison to make and an even bolder prediction to make. This is not the first time that there has been a Sanders-Brady comparison.

No disrespect to Shedeur Sanders, but in the NFL, a mere work ethic alone does not equate to greatness. At this stage, it is very tempting to hype Shedeur up further, and compare him to Brady, after all, both have had similar beginnings in the NFL. The seven-time Super Bowl champ got picked 199th overall, yet he was able to have the greatest professional career.

For Shedeur, it is good to be optimistic, but such comparisons are the equivalent of putting the cart before the horse. Sanders is talented, and Kevin Stefanski knows he has a diamond in his hands, however, fans and his well-wishers must give the young QB time to blossom and not make comparisons to Brady without him having taken a snap in the NFL. Hopefully, McCoy’s predictions come true because Sanders has the skill required to be a reliable quarterback in the league.
