The lightweight division is unbelievably stacked with talented fighters. And since the retirement of Khabib Nurmagomedov, the scramble for the title has become even more intense. While a few like Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier have found an opponent; Tony Ferguson, Michael Chandler, Dan Hooker are some fighters who have not found one. Of late, these fighters have become more grumpy due to the promotion not landing them a fight and ‘El Cucuy’ Tony Ferguson’s recent claims are synonymous of that.
Taking to Twitter a disgruntled Tony called out the UFC boss Dana White to match him with an opponent. The tweet from Tony comes in the wake of a recent Twitter exchange between Michael Chandler and Tony himself.
“Let’s give em’ what they want. The fans deserve this” – Tony Ferguson on Twitter
It all started when UFC newcomer Michael Chandler called out Tony Ferguson a few days ago, asking him to prepare for a throw down, since Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier was fixed. Tony took his time to respond and after three days, ‘El Cucuy’ came up with a reply saying he was down for whatever, challenging Michael Chandler to bring it on.
More recently, Tony took to Twitter tagging Dana White saying, “#256 Main Event @danawhite You said 2020 has been shitty for many. Let’s make it a little better again. Let’s give em’ what they want. The fans deserve this # PandemicGames TUF13 Champ. @ufc@seanshelby.”
Given that UFC 256 is hardly a month away, the UFC will not find it easy to book a fight that soon. However, since Tony seems to be serious, it is very likely that he will step into the octagon – most probably against Michael Chandler. Would you like to see the fight happen?
