It’s nearly a month since star running back Saquon Barkley signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, but it still hasn’t been quite digestible for many people. Joining the queue of those shocked faces now, is Le’Veon Bell. 

Barkley, who had been with the New York Giants for six years, when asked for a deserving offer with higher pay, the franchise couldn’t find a common ground– leading to his eventual signing with their divisional rivals. The Eagles, of course, didn’t waste time in pursuing the running back in a three-year deal worth $37.75 million.

During a recent appearance on The Schmo show, the former Pittsburgh Steelers running back was asked the most surprising thing he witnessed within the free agency market, during this offseason. Bell, instantly responded with Barkley’s shocking move to the Eagles.

The biggest surprise? Damn, that’s a hard one. I like the move with Saquon going to the Eagles. I think that was a big shocker. The Giants guy going to the Eagles — a rivalry — in division rivalry. I think that’s a big surprise.

Given the fact, Philly is known to have one of the best offensive lines across the league. Adding a solid weapon such as Barkley, after just losing legendary centre Jason Kelce, adds a whole new level of complexity to their intense and long-standing rivalry within the NFC East. 

Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts face scrutiny as Eagles eye comeback

Despite having an offensive line led by star quarterback Jalen Hurts with strong offensive as well as defensive weapons, there is still a lot of pressure on the Eagles next season. They have repeatedly fallen off the wagon for a few seasons and head coach Nick Sirianni is now on the hot seat.

The last Super Bowl that the Eagles appeared in was in 2022, and after that, in the following season they began strongly but their performance eventually plummeted by the end of the season. Just like, how they got eliminated from the playoffs last season after coming off an unbeatable record for several weeks. 

In the coming season, with their strong offseason moves, the team has a lot to prove in the upcoming season. However, as both Hurts and Sirianni are approaching a critical year, they both are under significant scrutiny.
