However, Lewandowski is now just one goal behind Cristiano Ronaldo’s 69 goals in a calendar year.
Robert Lewandowski is close to equalling and even breaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s most goals in a calendar year. Ronaldo scored a total of 69 goals in 2013 for his club Real Madrid and country Portugal. He beat his own standard of 63 goals which he set in 2012.
Lewandowski is Bundesliga’s top scorer this season. He scored 18 goals as of now, which is four more than Patrik Schick of Bayer Leverkusen and seven more than Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund.
His Unfortunate luck with the Ballon d’Or Award
Given his stat-padded records, yet He missed out on this year’s Ballon d’Or which was heavily criticized by football fans all over the world. Lewandowski was the deserving winner in 2020 but due to Covid19, his dream fell short. However in this year’s Ballon d’Or, he was the leading and the most favorite candidate to win, but again he failed to get his hands on it as Lionel Messi grabbed the award for the 7th time in his career.
